I remember when Circuit City was just a small shop in our town. It's where I got my first home theater sound system. I remember they were demoing T2 on all their home theaters. Ah, Dolby Pro Logic with a movie on VHS...
Never really shopped Circuit City as there wasn't one in the cities we would normally shop in. I only remember going to one and I'm guessing it was shortly before they went under. Either way a blast from the past on all of that stuff especially games, movies, music, etc.
I started working at Best Buy in July 2000, so this was definitely nostalgic. TVs were huge and expensive, most of our movies were VHS, Dreamcast was on the way out and we had a bunch of Pikachu edition N64s, on and on. Phew.
I used to go to the nearest one each July or August when they'd have their $4.99 video game clearance sales and leave with bags of games, some never opened to this day.
I remember Circuit City was garbage even before retail electronics started dying. Even back in the day they were my last option if I needed something.
I go into Best Buy now and 5 salespeople jump on me instantly. Please buy something!! Need a new phone? Like console games? Need a refrigerator? It is sad and pathetic. Anyone putting money into opening new stores is delusional.
LOL. Nokia brick phone. Looking back, awesome phone. I dropped that phone endless times..... never cracked or broke down. Thing was made of kryptonite.
