Phil's comments are a little concerning. But I think they have been exaggerated a bit too.

The guy in the video used GTA5 as an example of games as a service. But the game has a pretty damn robust SP campaign along with a phenomenal online component that keeps growing.

I don't think Phil necessarily means that SP is dead on Xbox.

Can't agree what Yung star says about not buying Scorpio. If you prefer Xbox as a platform which I sure do, you get to play the multiplatform games the best they can perform and look. A damn good enough reason already. Some would argue you can add 4K Blu-ray Player to that as well.

Especially noticed this on gaf but all of a sudden power doesn't seem to matter anymore. I perfectly remember all the posts when PS4 came out and it had the edge over Xbox One, lol. Ah well, it always goes like that.

Welcome back MS. Where the hell have you been? Lol

In fact Phil said the opposite. He said single player is critical to Xbox.

That isn't what he meant. But if you ostensibly look at the market, most games have multiplayer on some form and offline games are a rarity...because they're an antiquated concept or simply had that mode culled due to development issues.

Call of Duty 4 and GTAV were massive and immense step ups from Cods 1-3 and GTA 1 -RDR because they doubled down and innovated in that area.

Its like Halo and Battlefield are 60fps now because it was a major selling point for Call of Duty, once that standard is done, it can never be undone.

GTA and CoD can never be single player only games ever again, not without devolving.
Look at the backlash for Halo 5s split screen

I hope they open their show with this game. MS doesn't always open their E3 show with a game but this could be one. Show an awesome gameplay demo full of what makes Crackdown great, show explosions and buildings collapsing and have it look very impressive and at the end of the video let it say it was all captured from Scorpio.

And then reveal the Scorpio. :D

Do we know how big the developer is in terms of manpower? The other say I spoke to someone and he was very skeptical about the game because it was such a small team. Not sure where he got that from though.

But surely they mean E3 by that or before? Because man, it's about gooooooddamn time we hear/see something. It has been way way too quiet and I never like that kind of silence. I want this game to be awesome and the destruction demonstration two years ago was great. But I'm like..... "guys It can't hurt to just keep us updated a little." thing is that a lot of folks have forgotten about this game now. Time for E3 to change that big-time.

Looks like nothing til E3, but I'm betting it has a huge presence at the show, including being playable there.
I think it's going to be their flagship first party title for Scorpio, and I'm betting they will try and go the GTA route with its online stuff.

I saw this quote on Neogaf from the developer.

Crackdown 3 is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging. Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal.

We know that many are looking forward to becoming Agents in Crackdown 3 and we are committed to delivering the best experience in 2017. This decision was made with our fans and their gaming experience in mind.

It's from last June. He only mentions MP here, not a word about SP. In fact very little has been said about it. I really really hope that's not gone. When Rockstar for example announced RDR2 it said it would have a story and alongside a new MP experience. I'm probably worrying for nothing, it's just that I look forward to the campaign a great deal.

That was because they were originally going to release the multiplayer first. Since then they've confirmed the single player still exists.

Horizon is open world as is Zelda along with the Witcher. no multiplayer and all the better for it. so enough of this inexcusable crap.

you appear to confuse co-op Crackdown with this new multiplayer crackdown 3. not even close to being the same thing.

the more I hear about the latest talk from P3, the more I realise Scorpio is not going to be worth the asking price.

oh well, back to open world single player on Pro.

But as mentioned the previous games had both so to take away one would be a step backwards.
So this can have SP, CO-OP and MP
So great for all.

I should have noted those are from about 1-1.5 years ago...so they've had that much time to improve that.
Fingers crossed on this one....still my most anticipated of the last couple years.

I think it has the potential to wow people beyond anything else. Please be good!

I've said this in other threads...Crackdown may be Microsoft's most important game in years. Probably their most important game in nearly a decade.

It could lead the way in gaming. Gaming needs super compute enhancements to both physics and AI to kick gameplay in the butt. I'd love to see Cloud Engine and advanced physics in future Halo, Gears, Forza and anything else they publish. Love to see it in an open world Fable. Not just good for big explosions. Could result in next level of environment interactivity.

Man, if they can deliver on this....

All my power of the cloud posts from 2013 will come true.

If it's ok for Sony to release games 7 years after they debut at E3, not sure why the time table for a true cloud powered game to finish development has become such a running joke.

To be fair, Crackdown 3 was revealed at E3 in June, 2014. All of the cloud stuff was leading up to that, probably couple months before. I don't remember cloud compute being talked about during launch period. They were way too busy trying to fix their messaging, back then.

While I would like to have seen more cloud power/Crackdown releases before now, 3 years isn't exactly a crazy gestation period for a game release, either. I guess people are used to Microsoft waiting to reveal their games closer to release. Then people scream "they have no games!", instead. I'm not sure which scenario people really want.

That said, I really hope they actually do have some secret titles that are ready to launch this year, to be revealed at this E3. Since it's a launch year, I think that could be possible. I think it's a bit confusing without traditional generations, how they are handling these "launch titles". I also think this game may have been held back a bit, partly to push it as a launch game. Hard to say.

How far in the future is this set?

I mean, a black cop?

Next, therell be female politicians. (Actually, that could explain why the city is in a state of emergency. If you let flocks of women to form, they all sync up their mensies.)

Eh? There are lots of black cops, lol.

The first one was also black cops.
