How can you not like something and say it is a great game at the same time???

I played it for a few hours and I love it. I have no idea WTF these people are smoking! The graphics are great and the art is perfect for this style.

Also, how the world feels alive and you are going around trying to do something while your character grows is awesome.

F*CK these people about talking s*** about crackdown. Like I said hating on MS is the style that comes with MS this gen and it will stick with them until the next console.
Thank you!!!

Haters gonna hate. I’m gonna play :)

Strawman. I wasn't saying that Crackdown alone meant everything in the future would be sh*t. I was talking about their track record. I don't need to go through the list. It's embarrassing at this point. Apart from Forza and an occasional Gears, the high-profile releases for MS have been one mediocre game after another. It's been their worst generation by far.

As for those studios, I'm sure Ori will be good, and Gears will be Gears. Neither are going to shift the narrative much, since Ori is indie and Gears is part of the "what else you got besides Halo/Gears/Forza" problem.

Yeah. Does cleaned house mean let this development studio go? I suppose we won't hear about that right away. It would be unseemly.

MS doesn't have anything that appeals to me for all of 2019. Maybe by late 2020, they will have something.
You should make a distinction between the Forza games. Horizon is quality AAA gameing, but Motorsport is getting worse and worse. Apart from that I agree with you on their track record, this being worse gen by far, and 2019 lacking anything of interest.

They didn't own this studio, this game was developed by three or so outside studios at different times.

This is a new low on the web. CRACKDOWN 3 is not a below 60 score.

At least a high 70s.

Microsoft, just remember the people who review the games and next gen and stick it to them by putting them on the black list.

This is by far the highest level of bias I have ever seen to date.

It is almost like a plague.

I stopped when you said the graphics are great.

Blaclk list? Lol. Cause that wouldn't be bias at all.

You all acting like all MS games review badly, they don't.

This game is easily a 7.5 or 8 to me. If you notice its not being judged so much for the game itself. It's being judged against other open world games which is fuking bizarre. I really hope Microsoft continues to support this game and make a Crackdown 4. Dont let a toxic place like the gaming community talk them out of what is practically GTA with super cops. There's nothing else out there like it.

Gaming communities are the ones who support your games.. It's very important what they say these days.

Why is it bizarre to compare it to other open world games?

Do review scores count now? I may try to fire this up since I have gamepass but I am so out of practice in fanboying that I need help remembering what spin I am supposed to use.

Spiderman wasnt compared to RDR2. Horizon wasnt compared to Witcher 3. These games stood on their own merit with reviews. I don think I can recall one time where a game was judged so directly with other games and scored by it.

No

From what I read seems most reviewers are looking at this game for what it isn’t instead of enjoying the game for what it is.

I set it to download this morning before work will try it out sometime this weekend.

Go in expecting it to be the answer to every Sony exclusive yet to be released in 2020 or the replacement of Halo. Have fun.

Third boss in, and enjoying it.

BUT

It has given me motion sickness this morning while I was playing :(

People are reviewing it based on 2015 E3 hype that everyone knew long ago that we were never going go get. Everyone knew this but now suddenly "forgot" in order to stir up the drama.

What about the Xbox/MS sites that gave it low reviews? They secret Xbox haters too?

No facts allowed. Nothing can get in the way of the persecution complex.

What you don't understand is Forza Horizon 4 actually deserved 12/10 and the fact that it only got 9s proves the bias.

Right..gaming journalist that barely or don't play the games they review is a reality but bias..phhfhfh that's a ridiculous prospect.

The idea that gaming journalists can be bad is believable. The idea that they are universally giving Xbox games bad scores because they are Xbox games isn't.

What is the explanation for giving Crackdown a bad score just to stick it to Xbox and then giving another Xbox game a great score?

I'll chime in here: I'm sure there are some legitimately disappointed reviewers out there who expected more from Crackdown 3. But you gotta admit, there's an absolute ASS LOAD of "how bad Crackdown 3 is" articles and blogs out there in just the last couple of days. Bad games get released all the time but, none (not in recent memory) have had this much exposure to this degree in such a short time frame. It's nuts!

On Era, the review thread is some 50+ pages in and counting. 50+ fuking pages of people just lynching this title.

The DF breakdown thread has about 3 (?) The O.T. has 4-5.

If this game was on PS4, I believe it would have scored the same as it has now. In fact, it might have scored worse, as PS games tend to get more critic reviews.

This is my opinion based on my game time so far:

Pros:
  • Feels like Crackdown 1
  • Audio/Sound Effects are really good
  • Very vibrant compared to Crackdown 1
  • Fast loading times
  • Very easy to pick up and play
  • Has an arcade feel to it, makes me think back to the 80s and 90s
  • Unique art style
  • Obtaining upgraded agility never gets old
Cons:
  • Enjoyable art style, but dated graphics
  • Can't really tell that it is 4K
  • Story telling drawings are not drawing me in
  • No static orb tracker
  • Literally does nothing new
  • Feels empty most of the time (not sure if it is because I am early in)

It is clear (as far as campaign goes) that this was designed to be an AA game, not an AAA game. I feel like it probably should have been at $39.99 game, but I haven't played Wrecking Zone yet (other than the technical test).

If the game remain consistent to what I have played so far, it will be a solid 7 for me.

Well this thread has too many posts in it too but I don't see how that is proof that it got bad scores because its on Xbox

All you are telling me is that people are paying close attention to a game that has had a long development on a system that has first party problems.

which means the current 6 everybody is crying about isn't as unfair as some are making out.

I played like 2 hours and from that time it is easy to see the consistent negatives from reviewers for this game. It does feel outdated and is already very repetitive.

Crackdown 3 isn't a first party studio developed game though is it? I am too lazy to look, but I didn't think Sumo Digital, Reagent Games, Cloudgine, Certain Affinity, Ruffian Games were Microsoft's studios?
