Val is probably referring to the
Cloud destruction that was supposed to be in the SP campaign.

I think the expectations for that should have been tempered long ago.
I am very disappointed that we didn't get that especially since it was shown on regular xbo.

It should look improved with the 5 x stronger X and the cloud combo.

It's Crackdown. Anyone who's played the first 2 knows what to expect but for some reason some expected something different.
Thqt seems to be the issue though. It is just Crackdown 1. It doesn't really try to further the series or to improve on shortcomings.

I don't think it is unreasonable for people to expect more than a decade old game.

I love this review for Crackdown 3 (his only review)

https://www.metacritic.com/user/skyerist_pidar

Played this game in co-op with my sexual partner Michael, very dissapointed. Bad story, awful graphics, this looks exactly like a 360 game. At least i got it for cheap, paid 2 dollars for GamePass.

Score: 0

Full destruction in the campaign wouldn't make any sense. You would have no story, and you couldn't get any of the orbs unless they gave you airplanes to fly around an empty map trying to get the 1500 orbs.

Duh

"Also, the destruction didn't work narratively. You're meant to be saving the city. It was a much longer game experience.

"Multiplayer is where the destruction is," Wilson said. "With hindsight, we didn't do a particularly good job of messaging that. It was always that we were going to have two games: a classic campaign with four-player co-op, which is a homage to the original title with similar mechanics and updated graphics and more narrative. And then the cloud stuff was always going to be in the multiplayer."

I haven't finished it yet but so far it doesn't have the fun factor that the first one had, I still need to upgrade more but I'm not jumping several stories in the air yet or able to pick up cars etc. So far I think the review scores are probably fair, I'm talking the ones in the 60-70 range, I'll have to finish it before I can say for sure but 70 would be tops for me. Like I said before it has good bones, they could really have done something good with this but it seems like a bit of an unimaginative effort so far.
When was the last time you played the original? I've played it within the last 3 months and 3 smokes it pretty handily. Every encounter was pretty much the same in the original. You never even get to a point where you can jump entire buildings in the original, but I know that in the new one you definitely get stronger as you go

There are plenty of improvements over the original. Not that that is all that hard. It is Bigger, prettier, controls better, has new moves and gadgets, more enemy variety, etc. It's not a carbon copy. That said- it really isn't going beyond what a Crackdown game has been in general, and that's a shame. THAT said- it's still fun, and does have a weirdly pure (to quote Swede) quality to it.

Did they ever say it was going to the single player?
I remember saying it was going to be in the game.

In the old one you could jump pretty high and for a long distance, so far in this one I've jumped like I think 2 stories high and you get a jet booster to double jump but last I remember you really didn't need to do that in the first one, I've unlocked the agency jumping thing but I don't use it because it takes up the grenade spot. So far the boss encounters much like the first one are pretty forgettable.

I played an hour of this and i don't kniw what the reviewers and YouTube f***tards are talking about. This game looks great and plays great. I'm having alot of fun with it. Originally, I didn't care for what I saw but after playing single player I found myself enjoying it.

I haven't listened to a single reviewer, metacritic bulls***, or armchair warrior on YouTube since this one reviewer gave Dead Space a bad review. I don't rely on crap like that.

Granted I'm playing on game pass but might end up on getting this. Man people are stupid. f***ing trolls.

Lol

From what I read seems most reviewers are looking at this game for what it isn’t instead of enjoying the game for what it is.

I set it to download this morning before work will try it out sometime this weekend.

That has been a problem for a lot of games this gen it's not exclusive to MS games or CD3, not that you said that :) So many reviewers talk about missed opportunities for their political views to be pushed etc.

I have played a little more, it's a decent game not great I wouldn't even call it good but it's not really bad either. I think a 6.0-7.0 would be a fair score based on what I've done so far, that could change by the time I finish it.

I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but my HDR in Crackdown 3 was off by default so I enabled it.

Yes, same thing for me. HDR was off by default. Had to turn it on, and had to go back to the main menu to do it.

For those with HDR, check your options at the menu.

Holy crap, I'm glad you guys said this- mine was off too! I was wondering what DF was smoking when they said it was one of the best implementations of HDR, lol. Now I see.... huge difference! I was thinking it was some Red Dead level before...

Haha I can always tell because the console doesn't switch to HDR mode so I checked that right at the start, I couldn't believe it wasn't set to on by default, they did an awesome job with the colored lights in this game. The more I look at it the more I appreciate the visuals, it looks good for what it is. If I were MS I may drop the CD IP and make a new true superhero game with this same graphic style, I think it could work well especially if a character is a sort of superman type who can fly, shoot some type of energy attack etc. It would look even better if they could add some really nice rain effects and give it a bit of a Blade Runner look.

The rain in this trailer looks really good and I think would make CD3 stand out even more visually.

Nah. They need to stick with Crackdown - not throw it on the shelf because its not exactly knocking it out of the park on this go 'round. Hopefully we'll see a Crackdown 4 in the future.

Its crazy how people keep saying Microsoft needs to drop this Ip or that Ip and then later on, they bitch about Xbox having no games. Crackdown is seriously a game that deserves to be a pillar franchise. The SP and MP both are solid AF!

Phil said he wants to make Crackdown a pillar franchise so we'll see what happens.

They had a good first game, an awful sequel and went about 9 years before releasing the next game (CD3) in the series which is getting mediocre reviews, that's not really something you make a pillar of your gaming library, especially when you are already knocked for not doing anything new. Clearly this game had development issues, not so much because it was hard to crack the CD code but because of juggling developers and having the wrong priorities (MP never should have been a focus for this series) we could have had this game as it is a long time ago but they had to try to squeeze MP into it just to try to show what they could do with the cloud which isn't really lighting the world on fire after all this time.

Anyone else not even bother driving? I think I've driven a car once or twice since I started playing, they just don't feel all that great to drive and honestly getting around on foot seems like the better way to go if you want to spot agility orbs etc.

Who wants to drive in a game as platform jumping driven as Crackdown? The whole sell is "jump building to building."
