reminds me of Bungie's asinine no matchmaking for raids in Destiny.
Wanna bet? Wait till you hear all the terrible stories born from Division 2's raid matchmaking.

s***...half the people in D2 can't even figure out strikes, let alone a raid.

That's another issue entirely. Player choice. The player should have a choice.

I agree a choice wouldn't hurt, but the comparison between the two is incorrect. Carckdown not having this feature for what seems like a very typical MP mode is asinine. Raids in Destiny are teamwork heavy and mechanic driven, so not having it isn't comparable at all...could even argue it is for the betterment of the experience.

Nightfalls in Destiny not having it is asinine. They are glorified strikes afterall.

Yeah, and outside of the game and network running well, it’s not Bungie’s job to micromanage my experience. They don’t know anything about me or my circumstances. Let me worry about my f#$&ing experience you damned asses. I’d rather have the option to play, than not at all because they don’t want to include matchmaking for stupid reasons. There was no experience at all unless heaven and earth moved in unison and I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

This was so funny, thanks.

Nothing stopped you from playing. The system wasn't perfect but it worked.

I also match make in nightfalls ;)
But I hear you.

You’re so freaking obtuse. The system they had literally did stop from me playing. I was forced to spend either hours waiting for friends who were available, not play at all, or try to find people to squad with for a raid, which also took a long time and, ironically, set me playing with random people I didn’t know anyways. I played Destiny for months and was able to only play a handful of times and finish one raid in all that time because of their asinine system.

Guess you've never used the Destiny companion app. You can find fireteams looking for people for strikes, raids, particular quests and even crucible matches. It even connects for you in game.

I'm aware. Again, ironically that ends up placing me with a bunch of random people I don't know from Adam anyway. So Bungie should have put it a feature that has been around ages instead of making me jump through some sort of bs self-righteous hoops of theirs. It's all the more aggravating because it was done with the intent to control my experience and distract from the overall lack of content they delivered.

Played the Crackdown 3 test. Meh. Demolition is awesome but that was it. Single player for me.

Not really. The issue with cloud computing isn't so much what it can bring but how viable and usable it is in the bigger picture. Up until now the much tooted feature has barely been used and only used in small ways, Forza driveatars--which have got worse over time, for example. Now this gen is coming to an end and MS finally does something with it.

Until this becomes widespread and doing big things it will remain a buzzword.

Plus that clip doesn't seem to show anyghing all that better than what BF5 is doing, and that does it all in game as far as i'm aware.

The big thing is all the data being synced between players. The reason the debris can stay on the ground and be used for cover, etc. The cloud was also used for the waves in Sea of Theives so that high seas battles could happen on dynamic waves online. You are understating the significance of this tech beyond scale.

And no, BF5s damage is still baked and not as advanced, aside from maybe the ground deformation likely driven by height maps to simplify the data exchange. I do wonder if it does use some kind of cloud integration, now that I think of it.

I’m only interested in the SP as well. But sadly, it sounds like MP is going to be the better mode.

I finally watched some videos that weren’t trying to bash the game and came away really unimpressed. Almost zero activity in the city, no shadows on anything. Really weird.

I’ll still try it since I have Gamepass. But my hype went way down.

That's what they say but I doubt you would have needed cloud for those waves if the console had a better CPU, I wouldn't be shocked if they could have done it without it period because there are plenty of games with great looking water already. The destruction in CD3 seems to be there just for the sake of being there, the fact that it doesn't cause damage and doesn't seem to have any difference in how it falls regardless how big the piece is makes it once again sound like something that wasn't needed but is just there as a tech demo more than anything. I still think we are a long way off from anything meaningful being able to be integrated into a game through the cloud.

I could be wrong but isn't the point that it won't tax YOUR resource on your console?

We already made up our mind about this game but in the future someone can blow us away and with all these developers MS have under them and still looking for new, if will be a matter of time.

You're wrong. Really, really wrong here. You really need to play it. And no, even with a better CPU there's no way it could handle all the destruction in this game. The destruction isnt just there to be there. On the surface it seems that way, I can assure you, that is NOT the case. But I'm not going try and convince you. But you are wrong............again. ;)

As someone who’s followed Crackdown since it’s reveal, my opinions on what we have are mixed.

The 2015 demo was by a different developer who were absorbed by Epic. Microsoft got a new team who mostly started over. It’s not even in the ballpark of physics sophistication that the old demo was. It does look like something a high end CPU could pull off locally. But that’s not the end of the story. If Crackdown is using actual cloud servers that scales...the implications are pretty substantial for the future. I don’t care if it’s only 1.5 Xbox’s of power. It would indicate there’s a new foundation. When the Azure servers get loaded with next gen Xbox components, it gives developers interesting tools if those next gen servers updated for gaming can scale above local hardware. This isn’t Red Faction. The reasons the physics require cloud compute is because they aren’t scripted. Dynamic cost much more resources.

I don’t think Crackdown multiplayer will have legs. It’s clear that the teams who built the multiplayer pulled something out of their asses with limited time. I’ve watched a lot of gameplay and it is just a tech demo. It’s like when I bought a Sega Genesis with Altered Beast. Altered Beast was a tech demo of what the system could do and was fine...but beaten in 1 short play through and only touched again to show your friends who were still on the NES. Crackdown is a tech demo. Now will be interested in seeing this tech scaled up and used more intelligently in the future.

Crackdowns single player looks fun. Disappointed by some real clunky and janky animations (even on stuff that doesn’t impact gameplay). The AI is non existent. Crackdown will be a fun platformer with guns. Nothing like it on the market recently so I’m glad it’s coming out.

In the end, we get a decent platformer and a tech demo that Microsoft’s developers will be able to use going forward. It’s not a failure. Just not everything we wanted.

Have played a few hours of MP and it’s brilliant.

Unless I’m missing something the SP hasn’t been played outside of those reviewing the game for embargo date which I believe is today.

If the SP matched the MP then I’ll be happy as fook!

Your point is all over the place. You complain it doesn't have matchmaking but also complain that LFG puts you playing with folk you don't know, which is what matchmaking does.

Now you want to blame your lack of clearences on matchmaking not being present:laugh:

I played Destiny for years and had no problems getting a group together.

I think his point is if people are just going to use LFG to get random people anyway then the entire argument for not having raid matchmaking because it would put you with random people, is complete nonsense.

Fair enough...apart from the fact that LFG isn't exactly random if you don't want it to be.

He’s just trolling the Crackdown thread as usual. Don’t take his bait.

Leave it up to you to be too dense to follow the conversation. I'm not sure if it is because you actually aren't able or you are being deliberate about it just to argue.

I know what matchmaking does dude. The point being if I have to use LFG to put me into a group of randoms anyway, then I should have been given the option to have matchmaking in game because, ironically, I would be with randoms either way. Bungee decided they knew what was best and imposed their selfishness off on me.

Either way I am done arguing with a child about this. It’s not the point of this thread anyway, so knock yourself out. You’re all about the attention anyway...

Yes sir. Someone with some reading comprehension. You sir, are a unicorn in a field of asses.

Oddly dnough that is a point I agreed with 10 posts ago.

Don't blame me for your dumb rant on an invalid comparison, the comparison was the only point I was making.
