It's more like having to render that much for so many people concurrently doesn't work well outside of a controlled environment. It is a shame though. The tech obviously DID work- just too much for current tech on a large scale. It IS pretty irritating that the way the destruction and environments look is just so... not unique. The underlying tech looks the same, but it's pared way back and less granular.

EDIT: just got to the part where the building falls on another and it bounces off... I'm sorry, this looks bad. Hopefully that was a fluke? yikes. Glad I have gamepass, I guess....

It’s a different dev that put it together. Apparently Microsoft didn’t own the tech CloudGen demoed in 2015. They kept none of it when CouldGen left for Epic. What’s there today doesn’t look like the 2015 demo because the people who made the 2015 demo took their ball and went elsewhere.

Incompetent management. Team demoing tech with their IP that Microsoft neither owned nor understood. Probably too costly in terms of cloud resources on top of different physics engine altogether. Now they’re paying the price.

This is looking pretty bad on both fronts. I've been trying to withhold judgment until I could see more video for both modes, but I can't see much in terms of redeeming qualities so far. What is most irritating for me is that this was one of my favorite franchises - the ultimate "drop in, drop out" sandbox game. I'm afraid they've completely shut the door on any sequel for years to come.

Maybe through updates they can address some of the issues, but it seems clear they have just stripped back an enormous amount to get a stable build out the door.

Dude, I dont know where the hell you're getting your information from, but it sounds like it's squirted from the backside of a Rhino. The tech works, and phenomenally well in Wrecking Zone. No, its not what it was but, that was due to the devs having to scale back on some of the destruction because too much if it proved as a barricade to the actual gameplay which wasnt fun. What's there is the most impressive destruction of any generation - hands down.
The destuction also plays an integral part of the gameplay. It's not just there for bombastic, spectacle. It actually serves the games play in numerous ways that havent been explored in any MP to date and will probably expand when it releases.

You're being the very definition of an armchair developer - which is another way of saying, you dont know what youre talking about. Why not do a bit of research before you go off spouting off guesses as to what happened with the tech. Or better yet, just play the game yourself - dont worry about the parts of development (which would be all of it) that dont concern you. Jesus...

Yeah the campaign is being praised. The tech test not so much.

I wanted it for the campaign.

Played the last tech test today as well. It’s definitely simple, but I still had a lot of fun. I can see it getting old fast for most people IF they don’t add onto it.

But it actually took me a couple hours to really get the hang of using the destruction as a weapon, because quite simply I’ve never experienced that before, with the exception of the set-pieces in BF.

I think that’s where the ‘depth’ lies, if there is any. You can do things you haven’t been able to do in MP, so there is a learning curve.

I saw someone hiding so I started rocketing the floor above them. It started collapsing on them, and when they tried to escape, a teammate shot them. Pretty cool stuff.

And as some here have said, it gave me a pretty good feel for how the SP will be, and now I really can’t wait for Friday.

Tech test is actually blowing up! People are praising the hell out of it, actually. Ive seen a couple of podcasts already saying "IGN lied". And from my experience, Wrecking Zone is baller AF!

Yeah, I saw this as well. ResetEra guys have been surprisingly positive overall. Quite unexpected.

At this point if the game isn't good then it's no one's fault but MS. 5+ years in development should create a well received AAA experience. If they had Dev woes and thats the reason it took so long (which know is the case) doesn't excuse the fact that it took them 5 years to put out a possibly mediocre game

I’ll admit this was slightly entertaining. I’ve never had anything I’ve done be compared to squirt from the backside of a rhino.

There’s no guesses with the tech. It was made by a different team who went elsewhere. Took the tech with them. This is known.

Xbox gaming division was a train wreck in terms of management, communication and strategy in 2015. Insiders and devs have commented but even if you don’t want to take their word, you only had to look at the results from cancellations to dev hell from the time period. It’s ok though. Xbox leadership now is much better. I’ll continue to call out that ish-show from a few years ago for what it was.

Crackdown is the last remainder from that time period. We’ll likely see a different Xbox from here on out. I look forward to Crackdowns platforming and the black hole gun. Can’t deny it’s warts though.
