Sony said it's early in development, so it's going to be quite a while before it releases.

Zombie games do bore me, so that's where we differentiate ourselves, I suppose. It took me forever to play The Walking Dead because I groaned at the idea of another zombie game (turned out great). Took me a long time to get around to The Last of Us, too, for similar reasons (turned out great, too). And yes, I realize I'm giving examples of zombie games that were not "just another zombie game" but in fact great games. That's actually what concerns me here -- that this will be a very good game that will not get much sales or attention because it will struggle to prove that it is "not just another zombie game."

Even for the crowd of people who love playing zombie games, they still have to push through all the other zombie games to get attention and sales -- not unlike zombies themselves push through the crowd of zombies to get a choice morsel of corpse meat. They have to make the case why a guy who likes zombie games should play this particular zombie game, rather than any one of the other dozen zombie games on the market. The zombie games are clamoring for attention, trying to break through our zombie game saturation like so many hungry zombies trying to bust down the door in a George Romero movie (ok, I'll stop with the zombie analogies).

You said "zombie" like 5 million times...

"Hey man, they ain't no zombies here...we are FREAKERS, dammit!"

"Freakers," right. Not just another zombie game. They're freakers. Got it.

zom·bie
noun
1. a corpse said to be revived by witchcraft, especially in certain African and Caribbean religions.

freak-er
noun

2. a person or animal on exhibition as an example of a strange deviation from nature; monster.

Listen to Mr. Webster, people!

I didn't realize "freaker" was an actual word. I knew "freak," but not "freaker."

I'll see if I can work it into a conversation tomorrow.

Careful if you are married...the word doesnt play too well with the wifey, especially if used to describe a drunken one nite stand with a coed back in college who did things most people only read about. Or so Ive heard. :txbcool:

Ok mods, back on topic please!

More about Days Gone.
https://blog.us.playstation.com/2017/06/12/how-and-why-youll-fight-to-survive-in-days-gone/

But the biggest threat in Days Gone isn’t Freakers – it’s other people. Bad people. Marauders, Squatters, Drifters, Raiders – call them what you will, if you step outside the relative safety of the encampments, they will try to kill you. This is one of the things that makes Days Gone unique: you don’t have to seek out danger. Wherever you’re going, whatever you’re doing – the world comes for you. In the media showcase demo Deacon is attacked by a Runner and deals with it, but while he’s distracted — WHAM. He rides into a rope strung across the road, throwing him from his bike. In Days Gone, ambushes are almost never scripted events but are part of a dynamic open-world system – Marauders can attempt to ambush you almost anytime and anyplace. Taking out their camps can make the broken road safer, but that isn’t always easy. Thankfully, Deacon has access to an arsenal of skills, weapons, crafted items, traps and most importantly, the various dynamic systems we have in place.

If you’re at E3, stop by the PlayStation booth to get a look at an alternate version of our gameplay demo. We changed up the time of day, the weather, and the dynamic events, and Deacon uses a completely different strategy to take on the Marauder camp, this time going in with guns blazing. For those of you who can’t make it to E3, don’t worry: in the next few weeks we’ll be uploading that gameplay video as well. Be sure to compare the two demos to see how different the experience can be — based on choices you make and the dynamic, open-world threats you might encounter in Days Gone. When the world comes for you — will you be ready to fight back?

This surprised the hell out of me. The last demo they showed a while back looked entirely too scripted but this video shows a much more dynamic world and it looks really polished. The only bad thing is the devs wouldn't comment on a release time frame.

Here is the same video from the official sony youtube page, may be a bit better quality. I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole alternate path video whenever they release it.

Looks like I'm going to need to get a 4K TV pretty soon.

I didn't see any date given in any of the videos I've watched.

Game looks great. Best game at Sony's presser for me. Followed closly by Spiderman.

Was there any date given for this ?
There is no date. I wouldn't expect it to come this year...this is another 2018 game imo:sad:

I've seen two interviews with the devs who said they aren't talking release date or time frame but in one of them they said that they are glad Sony gives them the time to do what they need to do. I hope it's no more than another year or so, I love the way they've made it so the whole "world" is dangerous.

This game seems to be resonating with a lot of people outside of the core which I find fascinating as on forums it has no way near the attention of god of war or spider-man.

Its a game that looks good vs a meh looking fan favourite. I thought God of War looked like a B tier action game.

They mention at the end of the video that they aren't discussing release dates, even when they are pressed a bit. Sounds like mid-late 2018 at best.

I knew almost nothing about this game until this E3, but the zombie packs are impressive.

It's really unlikely, but it would be cool to be able to make custom maps and traps, to see how the AI handles the swarms of zombies.

Messing with choke points and the different animals would be really fun. People are crazy creative, especially if they can share this stuff.

I think this one shows a little more of the alternate path than the previous videos.
