Here is a different play through of demo for Days Gone. I think this is better than the one showed at the conference.

And a dev interview.

Damn, so many games to keep track of after this E3. I'll have to come back and watch this when I have more time.

I don't think so, this is more of a survival game not really a team up style of game. I'm sure some people would like to put together a small biker gang and go through doing stuff but I don't think that would help achieve the narrative they are going for.

Might not be what they are going for but that's exactly what it looks like IMO.
I don't want this @$60 without MP unless the critics start raving....

You don't think an open world game without MP is worth $60? Did you buy The Witcher 3? :)

Not with that look... Besides TW3 I can get hundreds of hours out of.
Unless this game is around a 100 hours.....

I'm sure it'll be packed with content most open world games do have a ton of things to do otherwise it wouldn't be worth the time and effort to make such a large map. Just curious what do you mean by "that look"?

They aren't zombies they are "freakers" lol I know it's a silly name. I like that they said these are living things not undead and they aren't mindless the way a traditional zombie is. I'm sure they won't be the only enemies, I'm sure you'll be going up against other humans as well and probably wildlife by the look of those wolves in the demo.

This is right up my street. That game play video looks really good. I love the way the zombies have that movement type of the ones from world war z. My only gripe was the shooting animation when he's firing the AR. It just doesn't look right at all.

I didn't realize it was an open-world game. That's interesting. Hope they pull it off well, and it's not just a bunch of filler subquests.

This didn't look any better or different than all the other open world zombie games we have now.

So this is like an open-world Dead Rising type of game? It looked good from the demo.

Yea, DR is semi open and way less serious
The zombies are also hella slow in DR. This World War Z / Dawn of the Dead zombies seems to get the blood pumping faster.

Yeah definitely more tension/danger in this world, it's more grounded in "reality".

Don't know about that. The movement of the zombies was excellent and not something I've seen in a video game before.

The movement is different for the most part, but I see where Kvally is coming from. The presentation was basically a dude a shooting zombies. It didn't really give away all that much or really show anything that truly separates it from similar games. You wouldn;t even know it was an open-world game if the dev didn't come out say so.

I thought it looked good though.

I thought the whole situation was something we haven't seen. That management of the tide looks intense as hell. He had to run anytime he had to reload because they were constantly on him. It is a very different vibe and way of playing compared to Dead Rising. The power dynamic is also inverted.

I imagine there are so many games, it's hard for each of them to get a lot of attention. Must be an extremely competitive atmosphere. And on the surface, it does appear to be "just another zombie game."

It's probably worth noting that the devs are saying that although they showed a bunch of freaker (zombie) killing in the video, their actual intent is to create a game that emphasizes the human element. Brotherhood, loyalty, loss, fear, camaraderie, vengeance, etc., as well as understanding this character, how he got to be the way he is. Also there is a zombie/freaker society of sorts, with rules. So, it sounds to me like there is some depth of character and story here, and relationships and atmosphere will be important.

I think it's a misunderstanding to see it merely as a zombie game, with its main draw being "you shoot lots of zombies in an open world." It sounds to me like it's a good deal more than that. But the subtle stuff gets swept under the rug at E3, in favor of the flashy and violent, whatever grabs people's attention in a crowded, noisy environment like that.

But then, the devs created that impression themselves. Their demo footage featured only that (zombie-killin') and nothing else. So, it would be easy for someone to go away with the impression that it's just another zombie-killin' game.

I like that you're fighting humans too. That would probably be a realistic scenario.

The trailer seemed like a Last of Us off-shoot. But that's not a bad thing at all. I want to know more about the story.

Initially during the reveal I didn't really feel one way or another outside of the World War Z/28 Days Later type zombies. The more I see footage and think on it though I start to appreciate it. Haven't played too many zombie games so I'm not burnt out.
