Did Dell just confirm that all Windows 8 apps can run on Xbox One?

Microsoft has already hinted strongly that apps made for Windows 8 will be able to run on its upcoming Xbox One game console. However, the company has done nothing more than just hint at this kind of feature and has never talked about how app developers could get their creations published on the Xbox One. Now a pre-order page for the console on Dell's online store seems to confirm that Windows 8 apps will be able to run on the next-gen game machine.

The page itself, which shows that Dell's shipments of the Xbox One are sold out for now, also has a list of the console's features. Among them is "Windows 8" with a picture of a Windows Phone 8 device and what looks like Dell's own Latitude 10 tablet. The description reads:

Consider the game officially changed. With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience.

The description also has a link to Dell's online tablet store, where the company is selling both Windows 8 and Android devices. Of course, this is coming from Dell and not from Microsoft so this information could be incorrect, or at least not 100 percent accurate. We have emailed Microsoft for comment.

Would be nice if true, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Might simply be a mistake or misinterpretation of what Xbox One is.

If underlining XBOX One is Windows 8, with added features for xbox one specific features, then I do not see why not.

Imagine if you can give a Powerpoint presentation using voice & hand gesture, that would be quite cool.

I think MS said during build-conference that Windows 8 app's might eventually come to xbox one down the line.

I think the plan were that apps-authors needed to resubmit the apps - so it's probably not going to be thousands of apps on day one.
The main problem functionality-wize is controls, with regular controller and kinect, I don't think most of the Win8 apps would be easy to control.
But with smartglass it should be no problem controlling them, and give you the best tablet-like experience.
Perhaps they can also use the xbox one phone-app, to control system with some sort of remote play-like functionality, for those not willing to invest in Smartglass but want the apps when they get available, seems that way due to how Dell worded the advertisement, i.e. that you could sync up Dell-tablets to your Xbox One wich ran the apps. :-)

I think by 2015 we might see this happening. I do not see this happening anytime soon. I think the first steps toward a one store for every platform next year possibly around GDC.
