I am so burnt out on this game. Just moving around the new area is deadly. There's ships flying around that just insta-kill you (it might be the framerate bug that they refuse to fix - higher fps can get you more damage, so people lock their fps at 30 for certain areas). It is like 5 headshots with a scout rifle to take out the most basic red bar enemy. Just trying to do a public event in the new area and I die over and over. I'm a Titan with max resilience and I just get ganked.

I'm fine with them making things a little harder, but they've made things super grindy and stupid. I'm still working my way up to the new powerful cap, so that might be part of it, but I am close to max already. It is just super annoying and I'm not sure they went this way with things.

Going through the seasonal activity is super tough, and you are highly dependent on getting good people in matchmaking. Someone without a good build is not going to last.

It is great to see companies finally cracking down on those devices. They've been all over console FPS games for years now.

At this point, it is like a TV show that I've spend hours watching multiple seasons. We're close to the end so I just have to stick with it. At least this season seems a little more fun than last.

Playing Diablo 4 has made me realize what Destiny is missing. Destiny is grindy, but has no point. At least in D4 I can go for new drops that might make me a little better, or change my build in some way. Destiny is just about checking boxes each season (they changed the interface to make it exactly this).

Obviously part of that is me playing all along. I have a full vault of stuff. Before I go play, I have to delete stuff from my vault just to make room.

The technical problems have been going on a long time now. Every Tuesday when the game "resets" there are tons of problems. I'm often unable to play new content that night because the game is mostly down. You have to button mash if you want to hope to get in.

This is the first season I may not finish the battle pass. I'm just so bored and the loop is so routine now.

The story has completely jumped the shark now too. Lightfall is a giant filler that told us nothing in the story. Even the last "big" cutscene was not that much new.

For me, Destiny is missing matchmaking for all activities. I had read that the devs would introduce matchmaking for Nightfall and other activities so I jumped back in a while back when Witch Queen went on sale. There was no matchmaking for activities I needed to gain power.

So, I thought I'd wait until the matchmaking services would appear. I read sometime after that the matchmaking services announced would come with the expansion Lightfall, and then read it wouldn't make it when Lightfall comes out and no new date had been decided on by that point.

I promptly deleted Destiny 2 from my HDD on PS5. I just want to game and don't feel like wasting my time on LFG. If its not in the game then I'm out. I know, I'm in the minority since D2 continues to hum along in great popularity. But as a solo gamer its just not built for me. No prob, there's plenty of other games to play.

Earlier this year, we lost Lance Reddick, the English language voice actor of Commander Zavala. The passion and professionalism Lance brought to the role over the last decade was unmistakable and loved by all. Lance's iconic voice led us through the most intense moments in Destiny's history and his impact on our Guardians, our community, and Bungie as a whole will never be forgotten.

Commander Zavala has been central to the story we have been telling since the original Destiny, and we have plans to continue his journey.

Keith David, a prolific actor on the stage and in television, film, and games, will assume the English language voice of Zavala in The Final Shape and beyond. Separately, Lance's existing lines in-game will remain untouched for the upcoming release.

On becoming the new Vanguard leader, Keith said, "I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character's sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work."

Bungie is honored to continue the relationship that began with Keith during the days of Halo, and the team is excited for what he brings to the role of the Commander. We will always remain respectful to the role Zavala has played thus far, and look forward to the journey ahead.

Ahead of next week’s 45 min reveal event for Destiny’s next expansion, The Final Shape, director Joe Blackburn posted today a 15 min video on X/Twitter addressing some of the player criticisms and concerns to their “state of the game” blog post made a week or two ago.

Key Points:
  • Near the end Season 22 (launches next week), Bungie will be giving a new and previously scheduled eververse armor set free in-game to earn. This is somewhat an apology for basic playlist “ritual” armor not being made moving forward. No plans to change that course.
  • there will be a change to the game’s live service model in the next year to be elaborated further in next week’s reveal
  • PvP “strike force” team being assembled to monitor and address key PvP pain points.
  • No trickle release of PvP maps for next year. New maps will be introduced in a single map pack and will be free for all players

I like Joe, but we've heard all this before, multiple times. PVP has been needing content for years now. Any changes they make will not be until at least this time next year (if they actually do them at all).

They are going to show us the Final Shape next week, and hope that we all get hyped up and not realize we're probably getting another poor expansion. Sadly, it will probably work. I remember how awesome they made Lightfall look. Their showcases are almost always great.

Even if they do give us PVP maps eventually, that doesn't address the massive problems with the PVE side of the game. Diablo 4 has really opened my eyes to the fact that I can't make my Destiny 2 character any better by playing the game. I've got a vault full of stuff (and I have to delete old god rolls to even play now). I don't need anything. I let most loot go to the postmaster and it just sits there until I clean it out.

For the first time in a long time, I'm thinking the Final Shape will be my offboarding point for the game. It sounds like the story is actually going to have some sort of conclusion, even though seasons will keep going (still not sure how they plan to do that).
