I Wanted to raise the question if the flight or air traffic simulators help improve aviation knowledge and could it benefit you in becoming a pilot?

for example, there's this game I've discovered called (snip, -mod edit), its basically air traffic control simulator. i've linked the trailer below, let me know your thoughts:

I would think so, especially if you use joystick/throttle set up. This game probably wouldn't help much unless you can fly. I'd check something like Flight Simulator if that still exists.

Short answer - yes

Longer answer - yes, depending on what you want to learn.

Many sims that you can buy as "games" actually offer an FAA training version for much more money (X-Plane)

Even sims that aren't FAA certified can help people with procedures, avionics, navigation, etc.

There was a f16 simulator years ago that I had. I could get in the plane cold, start the engines, fly land everything. I dont think that would qualify me to fly one in real life...I know they do train on them though.

They make simulators for this stuff now?

Press the take off button. Press the autopilot button. Press the landing button...

:p

Airport Security simulator. Now THAT is where the fun would be.

I guess it would depend how good a sim it is and how good it's ingame trainer/tutorials are.
