That's right. Before there was the shooter rage there was the rage itself. Doom for life!
I was thinking about what they're teasing in that video, especially the 'Viking' Slayer and when the Doom Slayer goes to attack the Arch Vile with the Crucible.
I'm wondering if they're taking some influence from Bioshock where the character has both Guns and innate powers they absorb. I think the Viking is the Slayer 'Big Daddy' and the Battle Axe is actually the Crucible. I think the Crucible is not to cut down the Arch Vile but to absorb his power. We've already seen him absorbing the Argent Energy cells left by Hayden.
The shoulder mounted flame thrower game mechanic might be how the player unleashes these powers later
