What are your thoughts on dreams. Like most, I dream all the time. Some dreams make sense, some dreams don't make sense. Some dreams seem to related to something I recently saw the day before I went to bed, or maybe even that week. Sometimes, I see people I don't even know in my dream.

How would you explain dreams, and their respective contents? How did I just make up some imaginary person, but they have full facial features? If I had the knowledge of video editing, I could recreate my dreams for others to see what it is that I saw. In fact, I can remember a dream I had the other night, distinctly. For the most part, I could recreate most of it (it was an outdoor dream), but the flooding that happened in the dream would have to be done via CGI.

People in my dreams will include friends, family, pets, ex's, work, nature, sex, going to the bathroom. At times it almost seems like another life. And many times, I can control my dreams. I have been able to wake myself up from a dream. I have been in a dream and I told myself in the dream that I knew I was dreaming. I have even had dreams within a dream and I knew that throughout the dream.

How do you know we are not dreaming right now, and we are actually awake when we think we are dreaming?

The more I think about it, the more freaky it sounds.

The most interesting dreams for me are those with people I have never met nor do I recall ever seeing before. Are you just a random recall from my memory of someone I saw on the street 6 years ago? Some sort of odd conglomeration of traits my brain smashed together? Just weird.

So no dreams for you? :(
I had a big thread about them at TeamXbox. Every time I had a dream I would post it in there. I have some saved in my note pad on my iPhone. I'll post some later. I love dreaming. I've only had one nightmare in my entire life. If you want some vivid dreams, take some ZMA before going to bed.

I never knew you had those posts there! That would be great. I would love to share them if I had them too...maybe not the ones where I get a solid hard on, but never blow my load ones....:)

I guess it is possible that these people or faces could be people that I saw, but didn't know....or even people that I see on TV in commercials?

Has anyone ever been peeing in their dream, and found themselves waking up to them actually starting to pee in your bed for real and run to the bathroom.....I have never done that......that you know of....

Have some dreams about fishing, but ending up with a fish that is bigger then the boat itself.
Then about that I am sinking to the bottom of a sea, watching the sea life around me as I go down.

Walking around in a giant supermall looking for my wife, but she is gone, sow I run around up and down, but I never find her.

I have dreams where I am dreaming and trying to wake up, then I wake up within the dream and look around me, but I feel that something is wrong, often that there is someone else there watching me, then goes on some time before I wake up for real.

This sounds peaceful since you wake up. Do you actually fish?

Those are what we call nightmares my friend...

When I saw the movie Inception, I was like....dang.....that is like my life, after 1opm.

I don't have to many crazy dream within a dream dreams.

Lately I've been having the craziest dreams where I've been getting shot, though when I get shot it only feels like pin pricks or I'll play possum on the ground and dodge the bullets. A guy was trying to shoot me with a Tommy gun the other night and I bounced myself along the ground like I was getting riddled with bullets, but I was just a spec ahead of where he was shooting.

I've also been having the strangest dreams of my Dad coming back to life. My Dad passed away 2 years ago this Christmas, in my dreams he'll be alive, though aware that he has already died, and we'll be doing the ordinary everyday mundane things in life. In the middle of it he'll just "die" again, he just switches off like a robot and that's it.

Do you ever wonder why you dream those specific things, or was there something that lead to say, the Tommy gun dream? Sometimes I can associate my dream with an event that happened recently. Many times I can't.

I had something like that when a friend from High School committed suicide. In the dream, I tried to ask him what happened and he just seemed confused.

I definitely think its from lack of closure. I took my Dad to the ER, stayed with him till 4 am went home to get some sleep and got a call at 7:30m that he was on the vent. He was gone by 3 that afternoon, never thought that when I said goodbye that morning that it would be forever.

I used to practice lucid dreaming and there are certain 'reality checks' that one can do to verify they are indeed in the real world. Flipping light switches does not work, reading and rereading signs or words makes them different looking every time, looking down at your hands and counting your fingers (dreams you have weird hands with different amount of looking fingers). Achieving lucidity within dreams is kind of like the feeling of being in VR. You start to question reality but in the end, your mind is just playing tricks on you.

Dreams are awesome. Reading up on dreams, there seems to be a wide variety of do's and don'ts. For me, it seems I'm on the luckier side of things as:

- I dream in colour
- I remember dreams until they fade away, but some I remember forever
- I can read, see numbers, do math etc....
- Sometimes I know I'm in a dream
- I can wake myself up. Even when I know it's a dream, some are so f'ing creepy, I'll purposely wake myself up. So though I know it's all fake, I still don't want to be killed or mauled by some creepy thing! lol
- On a rare occasion, if I think hard enough about it as I doze off, I'll dream about what I'm thinking about! (Rare though)
- Also, on a rare occasion if I know I'm in a dream, if I think hard enough I'll get lucky and what I think will happen! (Rare again)

The downside is that since I have pretty decent conciousness about dreams, I get a few times a year the most scary thing. That sleep paralysis thing where you know you're in a dormant state, but can't move. My eyes must be open too because I can see what room I'm sleeping in, but I can't move any part of body. Eventually, it fades away and I drift back to a deep sleep or wake up. In this state, I'll try to wake myself up and have a hard time to. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't and literally give up trying and just wait it out.

Sometimes I dream the Moon has come down close to the Earth and just hangs there taking up the whole sky. It's just kind of freaky.
I've had that too! It's one of the dreams I had as a kid I remember forever. I dreampt the moon had come down (like you) and it was literally sitting right outside a window at night as if it was in my parent's backyard. Weird.

I'd say 99% of my dreams are in color, I can't remember the last dream that wasnt. I remember almost all of my dreams when I wake, though only a select few I'll remember after a extended period of time.

I die a lot in my dreams, though I am never scared to, and a lotif the time after I "die" I'm still conscious. The times that I don't die I take ungodly amounts of abuse damage, get shot dozens of times, burnt in fire/heat, blown up, the other night I must of had 2-3 dozen arrows shot in my back and extremities.

My mix of dreams is prolly 75/15/10, fuq'd up, the mundane, sexual. Funny thing is the fuq'd up dreams make sense in the dream world. One of the reacurring themes in my dreams is my eye sight and speed. I wear contacts in real life and in a bunch of my dreams they're all messed up, either super big/thick, like made for ostrich eyes, or I just can't get them in. Speed is also a factor in some of my dreams, it seems like I'm running in place, I just can't move fast enough.

I'm in the exact same boat.

For me, no matter how I get shot, bitten or falling on the ground, it just feels like a big pin prick. And then I wake up.

I can't seem to run fast either. It's slo-mo. I believe that is a common trait for many people in dreams. Although oddly, when I get to fly I'm zooming at top speed.

When I shoot guns, it's almost always empty. And when it does actually fire, the target never seems to get hurt.

Me too with flying, speed is not an issue then.

Kvally great thread BTW!
Thanks BDK. I had too, cuz I wanted to see if I was alone in some of this stuff. Last nights dreams were not so great....revolved around my woman deciding to end our relationship (even though that wouldn't happen). It sucked :(

But it was nice to wake up next to her this morning! :)
