Dying Light Latest Trailer

This and Witcher 3 is why I built a new PC.

I plan on picking this up on Steam when it releases, unless I hear some awful reviews.

I'd be up for co-op too. My steam id is mikewiz.

Is this Robert Bowlings game that was shown off at last months award show? I wasn't too impressed with it to be honest with you.

Cool.. I'll do a graphics tech analysis on it as well. I'm sure Digital Foundry will do one too.

they should being that parity has brought it down to 30fps from its original 60.

There is no videogame yet released that has dynamic global illumination with day/night cycles except DriveClub. An open-world game boasting that would be very impressive!

The "Be a Zombie" DLC will be free.

Dying Light, developer Techland's zombie-filled action game, will be released next week worldwide digitally, and its boxed release has a official delayed release date in several territories.

Here's where and when you can get Dying Light:

  • Worldwide. Dying Light will be released as a downloadable Windows PC game on Jan. 27.
  • The Americas. Dying Light will also be available Jan. 27 as a download and at retail for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
  • Australia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Dying Light will arrive digitally on PS4 and Xbox One Jan. 28. Previously announced as delayed, the disc-based version now has a Feb. 27 release date. Techland will provide all pre-orders for the physical release with two downloadable content packs: "Cuisine & Cargo" and "Ultimate Survivor Bundle."
In all territories, everyone who pre-ordered the game will receive "extra weapon dockets." Techland also announced that "Be the Zombie," a multiplayer mode in which players control the undead in another's game, will arrive free for everyone. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive first announced "Be the Zombie" as a pre-order bonus in 2013.

"Although the changes affect only the release of boxed copies in certain territories, we want to show all of you our appreciation for your continued support," the Dying Lightteam wrote in a press release. "Thus, we're really happy to announce that 'Be the Zombie' will be available for free to everyone, on all platforms, in all territories."

For more on the Dead Island developer's next game, which was originally scheduled for a 2013 release but was delayed and dropped planned PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, be sure to read our E3 in-depth coverage of Dying Light.

I'm super glad they took this route. I was really on the fence when I heard you HAD to pre-order to get that mode.

You getting this on PC? I'll have it on x1 if you're getting it on console

I'm heavily leaning on PC. I haven't pre-ordered it yet, but I just built a brand new system and would love to test drive it with this title.

It's tempting to get it on X1 because I have a much larger friends list and this would be great to play with other.

Tough decisions.

Given that co op is such a core mechanic of tech land games I don't see this as a single a player game myself.
Did you play the first dead island? That was co op gold.

Yes, I played it with a buddy the whole time. It was really good IMO.

I'm torn on whether to get this for PS4 or PC, only thing that is seperating me is the fact that my friend will be getting the PS4 version and I think I would be going solo on the PC version since I don't know many people who will be playing it on PC or have a regular group of people to play PC games with.

Yep. And that was tech land. In my opinion this is the proper sequel to dead island and so should be a co op experience.

They also said on their Facebook that "We have one more announcement to make in a few hours, so stay tuned...". I wonder what it will be.

Anyone think I should worry about the getting the xb1 version over ps4? I'm honestly not worried about a couple fps here and there. Almost all my xb1 dudes are getting this. So its 1080p 30fps for both?

The last thing I read is that both will have the same resolution.

Here's a recent article.

Microsoft updated the Xbox One software development kit this month, giving developers better control over the console's memory so they can improve performance, said Dying Light developer Techland in an interview with GamingBolt.

Techland recently confirmed that Dying Light will run in native 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The studio was originally targeting a frame rate of 60 fps, but said that it decided to scale back that target in order to deliver a "rock-solid" 30 fps because "a stable frame rate is paramount" in a game like Dying Light.

Microsoft's Dec. 12 update to the Xbox One's SDK offers finer control over the console's ESRAM (embedded static RAM), according to Maciej Binkowski, lead game designer on Dying Light.

"The main thing is just how much the ESRAM control has improved," said Binkowski in an interview with GamingBolt. "The new API allows you to do a lot more with the ESRAM, things devs have always wanted to do but were not easily accessible. This together with better tools (PIX) allowed us to really improve performance and tweak ESRAM usage."

The Xbox One's ESRAM was a source of heated debate prior to the launch of the console and its direct competitor, Sony's PlayStation 4, last year. Reports indicated that the PS4's memory solution of 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM gave the console a slight edge over the Xbox One, which boasts 8 GB of slower DDR3 RAM, along with 32 MB of ESRAM intended to make up the difference.

It's unclear if this month's Xbox One SDK update specifically allowed Techland to get the Xbox One version of Dying Light to the studio's 1080p30 target. Reached for comment on the update, a Microsoft representative told Polygon, "Just as we're committed to making ongoing system updates for our fans to enjoy new features of Xbox One, we're also committed to giving developers new tools and flexibility to make their Xbox One games even better."

Dying Light is set for release Jan. 27 on PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
