I just did a few races in Forza 6 and it is crazy how different it is from FH3... In a good way. It's wierd how I only play cockpit view in Forza, but chase cam in FH3
LOL, ditto me to though on Forza I go between cockpit and bumper while Horizon it's always chase. I would guess the difference between closed track and open world needing to see wider area to chart your path.
Don't know if it's 'perfectly playable' but you can give it a try and let us know.
I don't understand why you won't update the game though. You won't be able to play online without the update, that's for sure.

I have to endure satellite internet with 10gb per month data cap, 2000+ ping, sometimes download speed crawls to 28k dialup speeds, etc... The X1 isn't a friendly system to those with crap internet when updates can't be paused/resumed over the days it takes to download. It took me over 3 hours to update the console (1190mb) the other night for the first time in over a year.
Anyway, it's on sale at best buy for $40 this week is why I was interested, but didn't know if most of the updates so far were for dlc, or if the game had any serious issues out of the box.

I won a giveaway for a digital code of the Ultimate Edition. Debating on starting this or Yakuza 0. Really excited for both.
Thanks. The sale ended last week and nobody on the official forum would ever give me a straight answer. I'm not really fond of the new location, and was more or less just wanting a game to get some use out of the X1 (haven't turned it on in nearly a year). I'll just wait until it's $20 before even considering it again.
You're American, aren't you? The game is $27 AUD second hand here in Aus, that's like... Tree Fiddy in american money.

I used ti be a HUGE Forza fan but Horizon makes it all seem so sterile now in comparison. And it's not that I am just an arcade racer, actually quite the opposite as I turn off most aids in Horizon for a more realistic experience. There is nothing (other than real racetracks and engine swaps) that Forza gives me that Horizon doesn't.
Yet I will still buy every Forza. I'll just play Horizon a hundred fold more.
That's what killed it for me. Never got around to playing Forza 6 then i debated if i wanted to play Horizon 3 before playing it. Ended up not playing either. So many hours of greatness to get to.
Well...yes, there is. Even with all assists off horizon is still an arcade racer and doesn't come close to replicating the sim aspect of Forza 6. The experiece both offer is massively & fundamentally different.
I love both. I love having to be precise and shaving off a tenth for a new PB lap time, having to massage the throttle in RWD beast or get flung into a wall at 100mph and ending the race. I love trying to attain a perfectly clean race. Forza 6 is all about the racing, precision, concentration and always striving to be faster.
Horizon is none of that and goes the in the complete opposite direction. It is style over racing, it is power slides over precision, it is about mayhem rather than clean racing. Hit something at 100mph and who cares, just donut out and find the nearest crest to launch off of.

Menace, you are absolutely right. I don't believe I posted what I did in a moment of good clarity. The truth of the matter is Forza lost appeal when my old race team drifted away from each other and much of my appeal for all the precision racing suffered. Doing all that as a lone wolf didn't really appeal to me. In Horizon there are more attractions for me on a solo basis.
And yes while FH is not nearly as sim as its cousin, you can make it very challenging for the racing conditions tou are given.
