Open world with several cars in view, water effects splashing the screen and it only drops a couple of frames. Also, it's not even finished.

Yea but that's 60fps mode which is 1080p, regardless though it's a much welcome'd feature.

For me though, Horizon is one of those games where 30fps is just fine. They just nail the feeling of 30fps in this game so well that I wouldn't sacrifice 4x resolution for double the frame rate in a game where response is already great. This isn't FM where 60fps is imperative to simulation response. Just my opinion though.

It's an open world racer though, big difference between that and a linear path pusher in terms of taxing the hardware.

Yea I know that. I was just stating the facts.

Right. I just don't see how anyone could expect something above 1080p at 60fps considering that. I guess they could go for 1440p/checkerboard or something with a variable 40-60fps, but that would piss a lot of people off.

I am honestly surprised they got the game to solid 60fps period. It's super CPU dependent and CPU grunt is not any consoles forte

I really think even if I had a 4k tv I would still pick performance mode for the 60fps. Damn is 60 fps so nice compared to the 30 of FH3.🤗

I don't know if I should download the demo at home or not. I did at work, and drove literally 100 yards because of trying to use a keyboard. Not sure I want to ruin my experience at the end of this month.

I always think that, but I always end up preferring the higher res. It just makes such a huge difference. If you have 1080p tv, then performance mode is a no brainer...

Gave it a shot, racing games aren't my thing generally but it's pretty, I like my license plate :p

I have to agree, as long as it's a steady 30fps that's good enough for just about anything other than fighting games and the visual upgrades are the reason most people bought a One X and a 4K TV. I'm fine with a high res mode that may not be native 4K but that offers other graphical enhancements the way Shadow of war did it, that way we got higher than 1600p most of the time along with much improved LOD over the 4K mode. Too bad that game was kind of fugly regardless of which graphical option we could choose lol.

My internal reaction to seeing the demo pop up for download and then playing the demo for the first time:

Only played through the first part of the demo where you sample all the seasons. That’s enough. Don’t need anything else to assume this will be the best racing game ever. Waiting for the full version to play more.

Visuals, HDR color pop, sounds and controls are all great.
