Forza Motorsport 7

One ting i hate in FM7 is 'homologation', a kind of pre-tune of the cars with very little room for adding more parts.

As in every Forza, you can upgrade any car to your heart's content - turning a Mk 2 Golf GTI into an unfeasible S-class supercar if you like. This time, though, you might not actually be able to use it. To be eligible to compete in career mode - and even in any of the multiplayer hoppers (so far) - your car needs to be homologated, which means it can't exceed the limits of a particular performance class. For the 1992 Golf, that's now the humble D-class, so our S-class hot rod is functionally useless outside of Free Play.

I really miss the modding and tuning in the previous Forza games.

So essentially you're spending money to make money--or on the flip side, spending time to save more time in the future.

It should be noted, at least in my experience with the game, you can't even spend REAL money. This is more like the previous Gran Turismo games where you were given and earned cars chosen by GT, as opposed to previous Forza games where you could pick which ever you want.

I personally would like to choose whatever I want, but the MAJORITY of cars are available for you to buy when you unlock tiers.

Have you been keeping up with GAF on this? Seems like they have a field day with the whole GAAS thing. Or anything to do with Xbox. You know if GT Sport was doing it they'd sweep it under the rug. Those guys bleed blue.

Honestly I never used mods in FM6 and probably won't use them in FM7 (still holding out until X to play more).

You can now adjust the length of AI races so you don't end up with those crazy "pass 20 cars in 2 laps" situations that force you to be really faster.

You probably want to use Mods in F7. In 6 many of them would give your car performance upgrades but in F7 they are all Credit and XP bonuses based on how you finish or number of good turns, some for racing with ABS on(i just sell the once that require i use assists). They basically replaced the bonuses for not using assist with mod cards.

Gaf is seriously comparing GT beta on the Pro against the Forza 7 on the One. Saying it looks better than Forza 7. Well, duh. Let's wait until the X is relwases, FFS.

And Turn 10 is fixing VIP. As a make up give they sent the VIP's a few FE cars and 1 million credits. I'm glad, i don't mind paying $100 for UE edition every year but this time it felt a bit s***ty without the usual credit bonus.

VIP and Ultimate

Over the weekend we heard loud and clear from Ultimate Edition owners expressing frustration over the VIP membership offer in Forza Motorsport 7. We immediately updated the VIP description in the Windows Store to alleviate any future confusion. As head of the studio, I apologize for any confusion or frustration our players may have experienced.

Going forward, we will continue to ensure that Forza Motorsport 7 VIPs receive the most value for their VIP membership, including new experiences and great content. Starting today we’re sending all Forza Motorsport 7 VIPs four additional Forza Edition cars:

  • 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 Forza Edition
  • 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Forza Edition
  • 2017 Acura NSX Forza Edition
  • 2010 Maserati Gran Turismo S Forza Edition

Forza 7 VIPs will be able to download all these cars from the in-game message center and add them to their car collection. Players will not only enjoy an immediate bump to their Car Collection score after adding these Tier 5 Legendary cars to their garages, they’ll also be able to take advantage of the inherent perks that each of these Forza Edition cars offer. In addition to the cars, we’re also sending all Forza 7 VIPs 1 million credits.

Secondly, and even more significantly, we will be changing VIP rewards in Forza Motorsport 7. This new system will work like it did in Forza Motorsport 6, offering a 2X base credit bonus after every race. We’ve already started work on this feature and we will release it as soon as possible. Look for more information on this update as we near the release date.

Its impossible for GTSport to look better. It has static lighting and runs at the lowest resolution known to man (1080p).

Now I am buying VIP.

It might look better than Forza, who knows. But GT doesn't have to contend with the level of physics, damage, livery levels, number of cars on track and dynamic weather like Forza does.

Anybody else feel like they're advancing through the collector tears too fast? I'm advancing before I get a chance to collect all the freaking cars in one tier to another.

I was lurking last night over there. Some are saying Forza 7 (PC) is a generation behind GTS visually.

Entirely possible when you just throw them up on the screen and take out any of the behind the scenes resources being used.

Of course they would. This is the first time Forza Motorsport has gone head to head with GT with the clear landslide edge in cars, courses, physics, textures, weather, dynamic lighting, framerate, campaign, RESOLUTION. Metascore.

If Gt aint got sales or some kind of marginal advantage in visuals it aint s***. So what if Brands hatch is sunnier in GT? Every course is rainyer in Forza 7....id like to see a comparison of that haha

Its commonly known as 'the half tuck excuse'

IMSA announces "strategic partnership" with Forza Motorsport franchise
https://www.teamvvv.com/en/news/com...c-partnership-with-Forza-Motorsport-franchise

The North American motorsports body IMSA has announced a new partnership with the long-running Forza Motorsport series.

IMSA%20Forza.jpg

Declared to coincide with the initial launch window for Forza Motorsport 7, the new "strategic partnership" between IMSA and the Forza franchise will build upon the already long-running collaborations between the two brands.

In particular, the new alliance will primarily consist of a "multi-faceted platform of activation highlighting IMSA cars, tracks and partners already aligned with the [Forza Motorsport] franchise".

At time of writing, it's unknown if any IMSA-related content will be coming to Forza Motorsport 7 in the coming weeks and months. The partnership announcement is quick to highlight, however, that over 100 IMSA-associated racing cars and nine of the 12 circuits currently featured in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship are available in Forza Motorsport 7.

Interestingly, the official announcement from IMSA also explicitly states Lexus as a brand being represented in Forza Motorsport 7. However, it's highly likely this is an error in the IMSA statement, as Lexus isn't featured in any capacity in the recently-released racing game.

More details on the by-products of this expanded working relationship between IMSA and the Forza series are expected to be revealed in the not too distant future.

Inside Sim Racing has a good, balanced-ish pre-Review

I absolutely disagree with his stance on drivatars. They make the game fun, imo.

He's definitely coming from a hardcore PC sim perspective as well, so keep that in mind.

In previous titles I would agree with you but watching FM7 the A.I seems far worse. Way too much ramming and weird braking points. In FM5 & 6 the A.I had a good amount of awareness but in FM7 they seem to have none.

The A.I and the stupid car tier system are why I haven't caved and bought FM7.

Con – Camera Issues (sometimes default camera view changes at start of race on PC)

Con – H Pattern Shifter

Con – VIP Controversy (addressed)

I don't have a wheel, so the PC items I cannot comment on. I have to agree, the AI is overly aggressive compared to before. I would prefer that they have DRIVATARS and AI, and you are given the option to choose one or the other for your career. I would choose AI. That said, I am used to drivatars now and I am still enjoying the career. I would prefer a really smart AI though.

The odd part is that making the AI "less difficult" actually makes them slower and can actually hold you up more in the corners. Just like in FM6 setting the AI more "difficult" makes it effectively easier to drive. Slow AI parks in the corner and kills your entry into the turn. They are so slow that they are preventing you from being fast.

I haven't played a ton yet (still waiting for Xbox X), but I also noticed that the driving line was a lot more conservative, and the AI tend to follow that. In FM6 and past games, you could always push the driving line into the yellow, but it was still a decent indicator. Now, I find that I can totally just ignore it and still be fast. Against the AI I always leave it on too, because of the driving line shows red, the AI is probably going to brake hard there (whether they need to or not). That can at least give you a hint of when they are going to completely mess up a turn for you.

How is that odd? That is how difficulty settings work.

The multiplayer is ridiculous. It is so bad you can do nothing but laugh at it.

Whomever it was at T10 that decided it was a good idea to ask that i race 81 laps at Sebring is a dick. That is all

Is there any other racing game besides 24 hours of LeMans, that I remember/played, where you can do a long endurance race and save/exit your progress when you go into the pit and continue at a later time?

Is it just me or does the tuning seem very off in this game? Especially when it comes to mid corner & exit understeer.

I'm not sure which part you mean. But with all the assists off most of the cars seem to have a bias toward understeer. Even muscle cars don't power over when i redline 1st or 2nd gear. I've adjusted so its not a big deal to me anymore. And i'm sure I can fix really bad cases with a tune.

I m talking about mid corner & exit understeer which usually is a suspension issue. I get my tire contact nigh on perfect with tire pressure and camber resulting in a 32/33 tire pressure with equal temps across outer/middle/inner...So contact is fine. Suspension isn't bottoming out and the weight tranfer/body roll is good...so not a spring rate issue.

Now, softening/stiffening the sway bays/roll bar and or damping should have an impact on mid corner & corner exit, but it doesn't improve anything, it either stays as it is or gets worse...the differential deceleration setting has no affect either..which it should.
