Friends Online Notification

I'm not getting any notifications when friends come online, is anyone else having this problem?
 
It's not a problem, that's how it works. Now depending on who you ask it still could be an issue. ;)
 
What he said although I would say that it is a bit of a problem for me too. I'm pretty sure they will patch it in at some point. Just have to be patient.
 
I find it annoying too, but I can see why they did it. With the new "followers" thing you might not want notifications for 100 people you're following but don't even really know them. I think they should add it just for your Favorites.
 
I hope they add it back. That is stupid to not have it. I even liked how the PS3 notified me when a friend logged off too. I want that on the Xbox One as well.
 
It seriously seems as if Microsoft forgot everything that MADE their console last gen, a la being ahead of the curve with the social features. Now they are all so hidden its hard to connect with friends.
 
i'm guessing with the amount of friends and followers you can now have, the novelty of seeing a message pop up would start to wear thin very quickly.
 
Its funny. It annoys me when you get a name constantly popping up as online but it feels odd without it on Xbox One.

They can surely separate friends from followers?

How about giving us the option?

Allow friends online notification
Allow followers online notification
Allow friends offline notification
etc. and you check the ones you want.

There should be an 'option' to have 'Friends' notifications (so people you're friends with i.e ya follow each other) and then a separate 'option' for followers if people want it in.
 
Options for the win.

Your can tag FAVORITE friends so they could easily use that group to keep the status quo without overloading people with notifications.

They should take this further and allow you to separately customize which groups (Favorite, Friends, All) are included in notifications. So you may just want Favorites to show "___ is Online" notifications but All to be included in the in-game "## friends playing game" notification.

I will say it is disappointing that they talked about moving the 'social' thing forward next gen but have come into it behind the bar they set last gen.

I imagine though, MS needs to make sure they work around the pretty much unlimited following feature and friends list size. I mean, if you think about it, what if you have an extremely active friends/following list. I could see the UI getting over burdened with the graphical and sound pop up notice toast. Imagine the screen trying to populate 150 noticed in a second, one after another.

They are probably looking at resources. I imagine there has to be a work around coming.

Think it'd just be easier to separate it by Favorites. Favorites gives notifications, normal friends don't.
 
You should at the very least be able to get notifications for when favorites sign online and offline. Yeah, if it's mandatory to see friends and followers signing on and off that would be a problem for anyone with over 20 friends. lol
