1000 credits = $1

I didn't like the change over at first but the restructuring with MyVIP has really made this better. Of course it rewards those that spend a lot of money on the service more than those that don't....but that's generally what all rewards programs are about. I assume MyVIP stacks with MyAcheivements discount but not sure. Ultimately, if you get to the top MyVIP tier and have 75,000+ Gamerscore, you could get 13% back on all digital purchases in addition to the punchcard rewards. That's pretty good. Not as good as GCU 20% + $10 GC good but not too shabby. However, combining this with Bing Rewards (and cashing that in for Microsoft credit), then it becomes even better assuming you are making purchases with full/partial "free" money. Lot's of ways to save :).
Very true.

I don't really spend enough to get much back from the rewards, however I do make out pretty well with Bing Rewards.

How's the campaign in Bad Company 2? I was thinking about downloading, but the 4 GB download made me hesitant and I'm in the middle of Dead Island at the moment. I'd have to delete some stuff because this is definitely gonna be waiting in line for a while.

I think it is a double edged sword. I think it can hurt games like you suggest, but I also think it could breathe new life into an IP that has gone past its intial sales time period and spur some DLC sales. Also, it might just spur someone to pick up that developers' next offerring at launch because they liked the first game so much.
When the PS4 launched I saw a lot of PS4 fans saying stuff like "Knack looks like the perfect game for me... but it'll probably be the first free real games on PS+ so I'll wait".

I'm sure it's something that all the publishers/Sony/Microsoft have put a lot of thought into though. I know when Steam first came out everyone was freaking out that cheap games would reduce the value of other full priced titles, yet Steam and PC gaming seems to be doing better then ever.

I really wish a publishers would leak the details of PS+/GwG though. I wish I knew exactly how much Sony and Microsoft paid them for their game.

Digital sales are blessed by game companies. Why? Easy access to purchases. I think just about everyone has bought some games on a whim online and ended up either not playing it or barely playing it. Myself included. Then there's all the free GWG games which I think I've played maybe one of them. I'll download them for the sake of doing it and I have space on my HDD, but no interest playing them.

On the other hand, how many people would be stockpiling all these games if there was no internet and you had to go to the store and buy a physical box?

I bet indie sales would drop 90%. Worth paying $5 because it's online and someone promoted it? Sure. Paying $5 to go to a store and rummage through shelves looking for an indie game. Doubt it. You never see anyone now or in the past browsing those racks. Stores used to have stacks and racks of cheap $5-10 games (a combo of oldies and freeware style budget games), they can't sell that well because you don't even see these bargain racks anymore. Instead stores would rather stock up on $60 discs and key PC games at $40.

All these sites selling classic games for $10 are doing great. Credit to them. Where were all the gamers buying $5-10 classics from Walmart and EB's bargain racks years back? Same stuff. And you'd also get a physical box. I remember seeing Fallout 1/Fallout 2 jewel case bundle discs for $10.

Sweet! I gotta say as purdy as the Xb1 games can be I still enjoy lots of my 360 games. I fired up Skyrim last night. Need to finish the Dragon Born DLC and it still looks great!

Same here. The 360 isn't going anywhere. I still love playing it.

If the Xbox One was BC I would have gotten rid of mine but other wise its still got plenty of great games I still play.

If the Xbox One was backwards compatible I would have bought one.

360 Games with Gold continues to be great. I can see Microsoft reducing it to one game a month in the next year though. 360 support is supposed to be 'phased out' in 2016 and they will want to add more to the Xbox One's Live offering as its library grows.

Pretty sure MS will add BC just hope they don't try to charge for it

*cough*

They're holding out... But I finally got a GTA game... Both in fact. I feel like if my luck continues, GTA will be the games with gold.

Shadowrun was accidentally free for a short period at the beginning of the month. Wonder if they jumped the gun and thats one of the 360 games.

I loved shadowrun. That game didn't get a fair shake, but I also think it would have done better I'd it launched at 39.99 instead of 59.99.

Probably a stupid question, but, if I have both an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One, do I get the free games with gold on both?

That would be cool. Would they have servers for people to play since this is primarily a multi-player game?

Dang, I would rather have powerstar golf instead of Volgarr...whatever the F that is.
I was just going to say the same thing!

As much as I've liked X1's exclusive lineup since launch, PS+ has kicked the crap out of Live so far this gen in regards to the free monthly games.
