It's no E3, but sometimes we will get a few interesting tidbits from GDC. Along with the usual talks and presentations, here are some of the main features of the conference:

Monday and Tuesday: Virtual Reality Developers Conference

Oculus will be a strong presence, with about 40 games at the show. The Rift is releasing March 28th.

Valve
will also be there, probably making a strong push as well. Vive will be releasing April 5th.

Sony's PSVR
conference will be on Tuesday. Still no word on price or release date. I think they'll save those details for E3.

Ubisoft and Epic Games will also be making presentations. More info about the VR portion at the link:

Edited the OP because Frozpot rated it funny. I wasn't going for laughs, but I guess the picture -- of a crowd of journalists wearing VR goggles -- looked silly. Hey, you try finding a picture of a bunch of people wearing VR goggles that doesn't look silly. Anyhow, I revised the OP to make it appear more business-like and serious. Because, you know, this is serious business.

Good to know.

I was thinking i must have missed the funny part. I felt left out, so thanks for clearing that up. Also, good call. This is extremely serious business. Like Mac Miller calling out Donald Trump serious. (I honestly don't know what is more silly, console wars or politics?)

Anyway, it will be fun to see all the VR rage between Oculus and PlayStation VR at GDC. I also think they won't announce PS VR price until E3. I get the feeling that Sony is going to focus on VR at E3 and piss some PS fans off like Microsoft did with Kinect years ago. Just a gut feeling.

Now 3 other people marked the original post funny, even after I edited it to make clear that I was not joking and this is serious business. That really bothers me.

You think that's bad? Every time i change my avatar to the blue one i get nothing but funnies. The likes and agrees dry up and everyone just thinks i'm a joke and or hates me because i'm not bleeding green at the moment. TD don't want to be the class clown no more. :(

Ah, good old peer pressure...

The GDC, much like Andy's original post are hilarious and cute. (I'm kidding Andy. I wanna see the original picture! I love how dainty you're handling it too!)

The GDC is to E3, as Michelle is to Beyonce.

I don't get why more companies don't showcase their big guns at these shows. Its a chance to be a bright light in a dim sky. Or a Bellybama.

Microsoft hires "Erotic Schoolgirl Dancers" for GDC party. Then apologizes.

"In a news story beamed in straight from the '90s/early '00s, Microsoft has reportedly decided that the best way to represent its brand at GDC is to hire dancers dressed as "erotic schoolgirls," because apparently no one in the planning committee for this particular event had the wherewithal to prevent this clearly awful idea from being realized. The dancers were reportedly present at a party organized by Microsoft for GDC 2016, with many attendees on Twitter reporting their disappointment at their presence.

"With Microsoft being one of the biggest brands in all of gaming, it is thoroughly unacceptable and entirely baffling that they considered this an acceptable form of entertainment for their Game Developers Conference party."

Microsoft eventually realized the error of their ways and issued this statement:

"At Xbox-hosted events at GDC this past week, we represented Xbox and Microsoft in a way that was not consistent or aligned to our values. It was unequivocally wrong and will not be tolerated. I know we disappointed many people and I’m personally committed to holding ourselves to higher standards. We must ensure that diversity and inclusion are central to our everyday business and core values. We will do better in the future."

My how times have changed. I remember rampant booth babes being the talk of the town, a generation or two ago. Damn it, what has happened to our good old sexist hobby?

Meanwhile, the Woman who made her money dancin' sexy won't be getting money anymore. I guess there is always porn...

All these hyper-sensitive douche-nozzles were probably chastising or making fun of religious people for criticizing the practice on moral grounds are now doing the same and dis-empowering these ladies who chose to earn a living this way. Oh the conundrum.
