Gears of War, bitches. So psyched for this coming back. I have missed the series. The original trilogy dominated my gaming time over the whole of last-gen. Hope that continues in to this new- age
The game will be amazing..can't wait till E3 for some footage. I don't really care about the name change. I expect a lot of people will return to Xbox once this franchise returns. It's always been a damn fun experience for friends with its story coop and multiplayer. People on my list used to play Gears together till the next one arrives. You know which one of your friends has your back when sh*t really hits the fan in gameland..Gears is that game.
Don't know that I like that this is going to be a Gears mill (and no I am not opposed to more Gears, looking forward to it in fact. I am opposed to creative burnout caused by being chained to a single franchise in perpetuity. Have they learned nothing from losing Bungie?), but here is to hoping that they treat the franchise better than 343i has handled Halo.
You don't have burnout if you have people passionate about the franchise. They likely takes the form of natural employee turnover through the years. I'm sure there will be more Batman movies and I'm sure different people will be making them as time goes by. I can't say the Coalition name grabs me but I don't think that is what it's all about. I see a group of people trying to come together as a team and if a name change helps that process then so be it.
There's no reason Coalition won't make other games besides Gears, just people in this thread saying they won't. All major studios have or want to have a bread-and-butter franchise like Gears. I would assume Microsoft wants all their in house studios to be major. The idea that either company soley targets a specific age bracket is ludicrous on the face of it, since gamers don't stay perpetually frozen in those brackets and they grow up with their consoles. Video games appeal to a broad spectrum of gamers of all ages and both companies cater to that same variegated market. To claim otherwise is petty fanboy nonsense.
I don't see how a generic Splinter Cell clone is more interesting than a new gen Gears. The visual interest alone smokes that lame, generic clip of a "new IP"
I might agree if they showed something more interesting. Still, I hope having a dedicated dev means a fantastic, focused effort. I can also mean we will get a deeper story and lore from the Gears Universe ala Halo.
They didn't show gameplay in that clip. The possibilities were close to endless there.

Oh come on. A spy in a black spandex suit, uses gadgets to sneak into a building. Modern military design. I'm not sure if it could have looked more generic without putting the words "Call of Duty" on it. Sorry no, I'm almost certain that game would not have been half as compelling as Gears. It will take something like that concept art from Guerrilla's new Dinotopia lookin' game or say, Scalebound's trailer to make me take it over a new Gears of War.
It definitely wasn't a modern military design. If anything it was a James Bond/Perfect Dark type setting.
I'll take that over a 5th Gears (blah) and day.
lol, sorry, near-future miltary design. That gif could have been ripped straight out of Splinter Cell. Even the setting. Repelling down a skyscraper with fireworks in the background, paramilitary body-guards kicked from a window entry.... inspired stuff there...
Lol it was just a concept, Phil Spencer said so, not a line of code was typed. Besides we get new IP from , Remedy got QB and Rare could be working on a new IP. Gears is one of the pillars of Xbox, makes sense for a dedicated studio to take it to the next gen.
