I don't know why it is. I don't think it's one "side's" fault.
It would make an interesting discussion, why it is (though this isn't the place, probably). I know TXB always had a history of this stuff, so I'm sure it's just part of our DNA at some level, but I don't remember it being quite this prevalent before.
My own theory is that it has something to do with this being an Xbox-dominant forum in a time when Xbox is in distant second place. If you're "losing," so to speak (although I think Xbox is actually succeeding in some ways), you become more sensitized to the ranking and to the "contest" aspect of it. You're aware you're getting beat (you're continually reminded of it), and that rankles. Maybe you're more likely to have some disgruntlement toward the "other side," maybe resentment about them winning unfairly or something, the media bias or whatnot. Just a theory.
Maybe it's situational, too. We're just coming out of E3, which always spikes the console warrioring. But it's not just the situation, because I've noticed this for a long time.

Kinda funny that particular dev would mention the PS4 and not the X1 which is even less capable and by a pretty decent margin, I wonder why he wouldn't say anything negative about MS? hmm lol. Being that his game has had people from IGN saying it looks really bad and polygon also knocking it's graphical quality pretty harshly I don't know that I'd take the comment that seriously.
The reality is though that none of the consoles on the market now or coming this year match a high end PC in any way and they probably are holding PC devs back to a degree, hell the base consoles are also holding back the upgraded ones. At the same time without consoles this industry would be much worse off and much smaller.
The cool thing is when it comes down to it most of the console warriors are fans of games no matter where they are to be found. Kvally and Valliance have their console preference but they game on both the PS4 & XB1.
We all have our preference, but most of us don't let it interfere with our enjoyment of games. I enjoy both consoles equally. Just like you.

All MP popular forums are pretty much saying the same things about Xbox that I say.
Surely you exaggerate.* Look at some of the Phil Spencer threads, for instance. Not a fan, lol. Xbox does get some grief here, but it's only coming from a couple people -- easily blocked if you choose to -- and they are almost always met with strong defense. It's the opposite on GAF, where it's about 4 to 1 ratio, Sony to Microsoft, so the anti-MS stuff just carries the day.
Another difference is that at GAF, the console war stuff seems to be confined to particular threads, whereas here, it pops up everywhere.

I have been on Sonygaf since 2003, and while it is a Sony kingdom, it still has a lot of unbiased good posters too. That is why I am there.
Yeah, it's a good forum to get a wide range of differing views. They are strongly tilted toward Sony, about 4 to 1 (that's based on data, btw), but it's a multi-console forum with a vast spectrum of opinion. There are plenty of MS/Xbox people there, and lots of people who are looking forward to the X1X. Although it's very Sony-leaning, it's not basically a Sony forum. Last gen, it was very pro-360 (at least until Kinect took over).
It's a great place to get info and differing perspectives and informed (and not-so-informed) opinions. It's a hard place to have a conversation about most things, though. Too many jabbering one-liners.
I don't even see it under the stacks and stacks of games I have for it to even notice.
Sonygaf won't let me register with a gmail account. Hell, my google login probably has more access to my personal info than my wife does 
Or this could be the worst generation of hate for any brand directed towards Xbox and some fight back. You were a bad person if you bought an Xbox One at launch. Even after Microsoft changed course. PS fans had it easy last gen. I thought it was bad but this gen takes the cake.
