Sucker Punch Productions unveiled their newest title at Paris Games Week. They have departed from the fun and frantic superhero fun of inFamous for this brand new I.P.

Taking place in the island of Tsushima you play as Jin, standing defiant against the force of Mongol Empire. The game is open world and all the shots displayed in the trailer are explorable. The game has been described as an action stealth adventure game which means Sucker Punch will be taking stealth elements from Sly Cooper and the action from inFamous, however as this will be based on sword combat this is a first for them. It will be interesting to see how they have handled sword combat in this game.

Sucker Punch have staffed up considerably for this game, as they have around a 150 employees currently, whereas for inFamous they had around 110 at its peaks. They have also been working on this for around 3 and a half years.

This looks like gameplay snippet:

Here's hoping we see gameplay at PSX

Nice OP. Looking forward to this one. I liked Sly Cooper, didn't like Infamous all that much. I like this setting.

Yeah agreed. Infamous just wasn’t really my thing either. This looks like it might be interesting though.

I like the style of this game, but I really dislike game reveals when they don't show gameplay

Yeah, in-engine like all DICE games, lol. Anyway, game looks awesome! I can't believe it's taken this long to get a game like this in this setting at this kinda budget!

As someone that's seemingly grown out of single player games, this was just about the best (single player) game announcement I could ask for from Sucker Punch. I'm hoping the game leans heavily on stealth and story. I'm also hoping we see more of it at the PSX show this year.

Yeah, whenever I see in engine I figure the game will look about 75-80% as good which is fine because this trailer looked awesome.

This game does look really cool. For the longest time I've wanted Assassin's Creed to do feudal Japan, but even just based on the tiny bit we've seen about this game I don't care about AC doing it at all anymore, this looks like the type of game I want with that setting. Can't wait to see more. When is PSX exactly?

I really hope this game is more samauri than ninja

I'm kinda hoping the opposite. It already looks I would say more samurai, so I'm hopeful there is plenty of ninja elements. They have said there is a focus on stealth, so that has my hopes high. I'm sure there will be a fun balance of stealth & action though. Hoping the bow is fun to use, I do loves me some bow & arrow!

!

Yeah, I just I feel like I've been a ninja or ninja-like character so many times.

Looks and sounds interesting. I hope combat is more Dark Souls-esque than hack n slash.

Well I would say it definitely looks more samurai than ninja, he's wearing all that gear & armor. I just like games where you can play both stealth & action, and I usually lean more toward playing stealthy. I don't really associate samurai with stealth, so thats why I am leaning more toward ninja, plus I just think ninjas are a lot cooler. Hoping the combat is fast & brutal though. Interested to see what it plays like. Haven't really played a lot of the infamous games (only played 1 & 2, never tried second son/ first light) but my memory seems to be that they were sort of more ranged combat focused. Hopefully sucker punch comes up with a fast & fluid melee system.

Well, technically, all a ninja was- was a spy. A Samurai could also be a ninja in the right circumstance . Of course, this is movie/game land...

I hope we see gameplay so that I can get excited.

True, 'technically', most ninjas were just peasants and all that, but we all know what we're talkin' about, we talkin' Ryu Hyabusa, ninja assassin type dudes. There is a very specific sort of image that pops into one's head when they think ninja right? I think like that first screen in the OP, when it shows the protagonist put his mask on and shows a full body shot he looks like a nice middle ground, kinda half ninja, half samurai.

When I say I want him to be ninja-like, I just mean I want good stealth capability (which it sounds like is a focus of the game) and fast, fluid, highly mobile navigation, which sucker punch is at least quasi-familiar with, even though I thought the climbing in the first 2 infamous games that I played was fairly primitive...

"Grown out of"? Like singleplayer games are a lower level of maturity or something...

Read that and then i was like huh. How does that even work. Then i saw the poster, are we sure that's not Mike O'War back at it again?

Shows how much i'm out of the loop on this though. Here i thought Sucker Punch wasn't revealing their game until tonight at the awards show or possibly PSX.

Here's the panel discussion. It's not much besides talk, and it has the usual amount of awkward questions and nervous laughter, but it might be worth a listen, for people who want more behind-the-scenes info about the game development and inspiration.

Is this gonna be a 2020 release? I haven't seen anything yet about it.

Not sure, so far all we know for 2019 is Days Gone and that's February. I'd guess 2020 since TLOU2 looks like it could be 2019.

Ugh. I want this game more than anything known to be releasing this year.
