God of War

Why would they lie? Bend is using UE4 for Days Gone. That UE4 video came out in 2012/2013 I doubt they stole anything from them lol.
Why would he lie though? Assets from UE4(especially in the above video I posted) are CLEARLY used in GOW. Who cares when the video was shown? PS4 uses 2012ish hardware.

This game is why we buy the fancy HDR 4K tv's with surround sound and should be experienced with such.
I agree, though more from an art design and main character model standpoint. I honestly don't see any real superior rendering tech. The artists are just faboo.

I am less impressed with the HDR on standard PS4. It almost feels like a sharpening filter. I actually fluctuate on having it on or off.

What impresses me most is how well they have implemented story, puzzles, and varied gameplay elements. Really a case study on how to make a game :) undeniable top quality.

How can you tell who made what assets from a video? Just because some guy says so? he could just be making assumptions and be wrong, if they used UE4 it would be shown in the credits, there is no reason for them not to do it, in fact they would likely be facing legal action if what you are saying is true and I don't see how they'd be dumb enough to do that. It's not like all of these companies come up with all new techniques on how to do things, they almost all seem to find similar ways to get the same results.

I agree, while I think overall they have done a phenomenal job with the graphics I can see a few things I wish were done better like the depth of field effect and the cartoonish fire effects they use. It's a great combo of tech and art that most other games fail to reach that makes it stand out IMO.

It's really a master class on hitting the right balance, imo. I'd kill for better AO, and I think the lighting and materials are better in a game like Assassin's Creed Origins. That said, I can't see how they could have done better achieving the versatility they did.

I'm just baffled at how bad the water is in the game.

-The main area of water looks like blue liquid butter.
-Some of the streams look like that awful water stream they had in Fortnite Battle Royale when it first came to console, before they redid it.
-There's another area in the water has this hard plastic-looking non-moving surface ripples with this funky looking blue/black mess moving underneath it (like a worse version of the Fortnite thing)
-Those waterfalls and streams, if you are at a distance are okay, don't get anywhere close.
-Don't let any water pouring from above land on your character, you'll regret it instantly if you're expecting something decent to happen as it clips through your body and has a weird funky splashy effect on your character.

There's literally one part out of the entirety of the game where water looks good and its on this one tiny island where there are toe-high small puddles on top of some grassy areas, I don't even think it's interactive, but if you find it, take a pic, it looks good. Outside of that, I'm been debating on whether it looks better in this game or PUBG, going back and forth.

Have some more awesomeness.

Finished the game yesterday. I feel like this could be the best game I ever played. I say could be because maybe its relative. I mean back when pong came out, it was the best game I ever played. When Popeye came out for Coleco Vision, it was the best game I ever played. I honestly dont remember back that far to recall if my mind and body had more overall fun playing those games at that time and era.

But from what I can remember I feel like this is my favorite ever.

11/10

Just started the finishing of the side missions and collectibles. Can't get enough.

I wish I could say the same thing. Game started out good, then I went to an area (carrying around blue things) that dragged on way too long, and now I'm inside of the mountain. The level design in some of the areas is monotonous, and I'm having to force myself to get through them. Everything else about the game so far is good.

My biggest negative was going back through same areas again, even with the environment changed. But it wasn't that much of a bother that it affected my overall score or enjoyment of the game.

I do like that they didn't make it so that you could fall off cliffs/ledges, so you just didn't arbitrarily die on accident. Kudo's for doing that.

Wow, I can't believe how much my opinion differs from some of you guys. I think the level design is brilliant. I love winding paths that offer shortcuts back to a area previously explored. These swiss cheese environments make exploration meaningful and worthwhile once you find a new chest. And the level puzzles are really well thought out. They haven't been difficult so far but they do ask you to think and scan your surroundings for clues on how to proceed.

I'm taking my sweet time. I'm trying to do side missions as they come up. But I've already been distracted by traveling to the fire realm. I'm a bit stuck on one of the challenges so I'll take a little break and come back to it. I want those embers needed to craft the fire armor. Also, I'm really glad I dumped XP into Atreus' bow skills. He has been so helpful in combat. Those shock arrows are awesome.

Atreus has helped me bring down the enemy bar faster than I was able to on some. I great help.

I agree with everything you wrote.

yeah, I got forked on the one where you can't be hit. so f***ing close to pissing me off.

I liked the ending

It was touching, also did you guys return home and see the extra ending?

Just finished it. Absolutely loved it from start to the finish. Really liked the ending to.

I'm not far enough along to be annoyed with the backtracking yet. I forgot I also despise throwing the axe at things to open chests over and over and over. That is NOT fun. Even boy thinks it's stupid.

Going back and watching the initial fight with Baldur is really cool after you've beat the game. When I first started it I thought he knew Kratos was a God, but he obviously thought Kratos was a giant.

ok got to the part some a****** in here spoiled :p however that was f***ing epic the way they did it with the music color way it was shown it was still insane badass. This game is just f***ing epic so far.

The most impressive thing to me is how they get me to believe these characters- so well realized.

Also, is "head" voiced by the same guy who does the Sea of Theives commercials?

Apparently there is a spoiler in the loading screen tips that spoils getting the Blades of Chaos before players actually get them. Man I would have been super bummed if I had seen it early.
