The most interesting thing in this thread is Oblong's profile page picture.

The game looks alright. Hopefully it's not 720p this time.

I'm interested. How does the gameplay compare to Links? I enjoyed Links more than Tiger Woods Golf back in the day.

The first one looked good. I got it on Steam but my laptop couldn't handle it, so I had to have it refunded. Not sure it's something I'd want to play on a console, though, unless it's got a Tiger Woods "take pills and nail chubby waitresses" mode.

Whoa, that's pretty harsh PV! I've seen more skin on Nickelodeon! The worse thing is I'm cant recall where I got that pic so it's gone to me now.

As for the game, the big mystery is what resolution/framerate it's going to run on PS4 and X1. I would love to see 4K HDR but seeing they are keeping it mum for now I bet that we only see 1080p. I am holding out because they did better resolution on PS4 for the last version and I would hate to see them do that again to X1 fans.

The game is more like Tiger Woods than Links thanks to the whole basis of this game was started when HB Studios stole EA Sports code for golf when they were given the contract to port TW to the Wii a few years ago. They have added and fixed much from what was wrong with the Tiger series but much of it looks and plays like the old versions. Even the galleries they are adding for this version look like the old Tiger galleries.

I'm hesitant to but this. It was poorly optimized and apparently it's using the same engine because you can still use all your created courses.

Got my Day 1 copy coming tomorrow. I went with PS4 to start because that is the version all the devs say they are playing at home while testing. That is enough to tell me it will be like the 1st version and run/look better than the X1 version. Game looks like a real upgrade over the original in many ways....most importantly it plays more realistic with swing improvements and ball physics. I will have more to say once I actually experience what I have read.

Supposedly they also have a VR team working on translating this to VR play. Right now it just seems like a Vive or OR option but the door isn't closed for PSVR. That would be incredible.

I may still pickup an X1 copy if it's decent as I have lots of golf buddies still on that system.

Thanks I didn't know it was coming out already. I will be getting the Xbox One S version, assuming we will get X1X assets.

'The Golf Club 2' Review: Substance Over Style

Almost Great, But Incomplete

The gameplay and options are on an elite level in TGC 2, but the graphics and presentation are still a step behind. None of the issues should prevent you from buying the game if you're looking for a solid golf simulation, but it does prevent me from giving the game a higher grade.

Released: June 27, 2017

Review: The Golf Club 2

Closing Comments:

The Golf Club 2 combines a good golf simulation game with the social interaction of an actual clubhouse through the online societies with an engrossing career mode. The joy of trying to dominate the links comes from play mechanics that are easy to pick up but will take much practice in order to master. Whether playing against AI opponents or other people, victory or defeat is entirely up to the skills of the player. The career mode and climbing the social ladder gives plenty of replay value to The Golf Club 2, while the ability to customize courses and import over 100,000 user made courses from its predecessor means there is near infinite replayability.

The Golf Club 2 Review

What’s Good:
  • Huge amount of content
  • Much improved character editor
  • Course creation is excellent
What’s Bad:
  • Technical issues are still noticeable
  • Limited commentary causes repetition
  • The range of content can be overwhelming
The Golf Club 2 improves on the original in every way, and most importantly it plays a fantastic game of golf. It’s a shame then that there are still some technical hiccups, as they do take some of the sheen away from it, but I don’t doubt that HB Studios will continue to improve on what has clearly been a labour of love, and one which shows that sports game development isn’t solely in the realms of the biggest publishers.

I felt the swing mechanic in the first one was kinda of broke. It was too easy to shank the ball. The amount of content and the course creator was amazing. Some of the courses made by fans were epic good.

I almost pulled the trigger on this yesterday but held off, I wasn't crazy about Rory but usually like arcade style golf games so not sure this will do it for me. I am going to watch some videos today and see how it looks.

I am pissed at Amazon, they royally screwed up my pre-order and it isn't going to arrive until Friday. May be just as well because they are having some serious server issues right now. And you can't even play the game offline unless you can connect. Those on the fence may want to sit out for some stability and bug patches to come along. Fortunately HB Studios really stand behind their product and those fixes will come.
