Gran Turismo Sport Official Thread

GTSport isn't a transitional game or a pitch for a sequel in Sonys biggest IP. If anything its a GAAS game where you don't make a sequel, you make dlc....or at worst, release a goty edition now and then with the dlc.

Its killer instinct season 1 albeit 3 times price.

I could totally see it as a GAAS, like WOW....I've always wondered why haven't more developers/publishers moved in that direction. Just set up a stage where it's a looker with solid mechanics n all the good stuff. But then I guess you'll get player segregation between who has the current dlc, unless they do something like Gears Of War dlc, free unless you wanna tweak it.

I guess in a way it is a major pitch for them to test the waters with one of their major IPs as a GAAS.

All the tracks...more maybe via dlc

That is the most bullsh!t-laden thing that I have read in a long time. Wow! Reminds me of old Sony. What does it even mean? Any game could run at 8K, with some hypothetical hardware that doesn't exist! Then the article actually questions wether PS5 might run games at 8K? Are you freaking kidding me?! I really hope this was just poor translation. This is seriously "Playstation 3 runs games in 4D" territory. It's embarrassingly bad!

Playstation 3 runs games at native 1080p and 120fps!!!!! Remember that BS???

I remember another bold/ridiculous statement of two different 1080p output streams or something BS like that, too. I think somehow Japanese companies can just spit outlandish claims and it's somewhat okay. 120fps on a television in 2006? Ahhh, hmm. 4D, you say? Uh, ok, sure, whatever that means. 8K, you now say, huh? So now you're making a game so hard in 2017 that it could run in 8K in the future? Wow, okay! Very "special".

Now, any western companies out there, you better not say anymore outlandish stuff like "No compromises". THAT is where we draw the line!

GT Sport will blow wind in your face to simulate speed. Well, something will get blown in your face not sure it is wind.

I'm new to the PS4/PS community so forgive me but how is this game expected to play?

I've not had a racing game that I was really into since the first NFS/PGR3+4 games, is it a pure sim in which case less easy to just pick up and play as I'm considering buying it.

This is the best GT Sport video yet imo and the first (for me) to show the hype around its lighting system.

This looks outstanding, but on a side note, do they want race car drivers to die fiery horrible deaths? God forbid they put a few lights around the tracks.

GT Sport Will Require An Internet Connection For Most Game Modes
https://www.gtplanet.net/gt-sport-will-require-internet-connection-game-modes/

If you have patchy internet and were looking forward to GT Sport’s offline modes, look away now.

In a post on the Playstation Blog, Sony seems to state that the game will have a significant reliance on a live internet connection. The post in question notes:

“In order to ensure fair racing for all, GT Sport will require an internet connection for the majority of functionality. This connectivity requirement is to ensure that progress, car availability and driver ratings are properly maintained at all times.”

Exactly what this means is open to interpretation. Naturally the esports aspect of GT Sport will require internet, but Kazunori Yamauchi has previously stated that the online racing component of the game is only 15% of the total.

Past Gran Turismo games have featured some unusual online facets. GT5’s photo mode, for example, had a share feature which allowed players to take photographs and share online. There was a PSN Trophy for it which, as Sony has disabled GT5’s online features, is no longer possible to achieve. The share feature developed into a “Photo Stream” feature, which showcased user images onto the Gran Turismo website. However, it seems unlikely that GT Sport’s photo mode will require an uninterrupted connection to function.

Both GT5 and GT6 had a daily bonus feature. This increased a player’s rewards from all races while connected, so long as they logged in on consecutive days. However, you could still participate in offline races whether you were connected or not.

GT Sport may need a connection to verify and report a driver’s “career” progress in their profile. Some of the campaign mode challenges include friends leaderboards, which will naturally need an internet connection. This may include your friends’ driving lines, as with GT Academy and some GT6 Seasonal Events.

As with other Playstation games, players need a full PS Plus subscription for direct head-to-head competition. However, the blog post is a little unclear even on this aspect, stating:

“As with all PlayStation titles, PS Plus will only be needed for the online multiplayer, portions of the Arcade Mode, including limited two-player split screen, single player races on select tracks and time trials can still be played offline.”

This seems to imply that players will require PS Plus for some parts of the game other than online racing — aside from the requirement for an internet connection.

Hopefully all will be revealed in due course!

F this game with the online connectivity requirements and F FM7 with the massive 50GB update. It's like both companies are competing over who can screw over their fan base the worst.
