I wonder if cloud destruction could be the reason for an MP split? That would be fuking nuts.. Doubt it, but still...

Imagine a new Halo MP with cloud destruction. Lawd Jeezah!
Hell yeah, shoulder slam through a wall!

I think it would be a mistake to seperate the two.

Lots of people buy the game purely for the multiplayer, and it's the multiplayer that keeps Halo on the gaming map.

I only play the campaign's most of the time, but I'd be willing to wait. It's not like 343i is a small indie team that needs to split the workload. And realistically, half of the maps will be remakes, the controls can't be radically changed from #5, the basic mechanics are there (with the possible exception of cloud destruction which we're pulling from nowhere) but it's been how many years?

Multiplayer isn't something that's been sprung on them at the last minute. From the time that Halo 5 launched, a week later they were touting 5gazillion hours were played in online matches. Red Vs Blue was a defining moment for Machinima, as well as the visuals of the game.

The multiplayer is synonymous with the brand, I think it would be a HUGE mistake to split it up, and would be a PR disaster.

It will be dead on arrival

I concur Drs.... Halo 5 got a lot of flak for being released with so little game modes/types, lack of forge initially and community hub.

I can’t see them doing that again, maybe they’ll have help from those master forge builders (they showed in their vidocs) and Certain Affinity for multiplayer.

I expect 15 maps at launch, with at least 7 or so being big team battle maps, and ZERO forge-made maps.

I don't expect your standard Halo multiplayer maps with Infinite. I think we're going to get a massive change up (probably Battle Royale influenced) to the formula in 2020.

God help us if they go Battle Royale. It would be a NO BUY from me.

Small tidbit of a meeting between Marty and 343...

And this...

This would be huge if it leads to what I’m hoping it leads to. Nothing against the other guy at 343. His music was fine. Marty is on another level. Maybe best in the business. Classic Halo isn’t classic Halo with Marty.

Now if 343 brings in Max Hoberman for multiplayer maps, it’ll be time to get really excited.

Oh hell yeah. Marty is a core part of Halo, imo. Bungie and Activision did him dirty... I may have an orgasm is he joins 343i...

Would be the best Halo news ever. His Halo music is some of the GOAT video game music. 4 and 5 have a mostly forgettable soundtrack.
I mostly agree, though I really like the Chief's theme in 4 and 5.

It's very Hans Zimmer, lol, I love it.

Let's hope we actually get something different this time instead of shoot aliens, run from point A to point B, rinse and repeat. From the reveal at E3 it looks like they're going in another direction but Microsoft isn't known to take many risks with their big IP.

Oh and if they're really thinking about launching with just the single player or multiplayer first then big LOL. Where's Sasquatch when you need him? Mr all games need single player and multiplayer right from the start to be good games. This whole GaaS thing is getting out of hand.

Never saw where 343 said they are releasing the game in two different parts.

Yeah that rumor kind of went wild in peoples hands. People all over the halo online reddit acted like it was official news, while the main halo sub were mostly not buying it. The fools who knee jerk hate 343's halo are ready to believe any negative thing.

Maybe in a separate mode, sure. But standard multiplayer will have standard maps. Write it down.

I'd be willing to bet the core Halo Infinite multiplayer experience is drastically different than pervious installments. It will almost certainly offer larger battlefields with more enemies on it, perhaps with a healthy amount of NPCs too.

So an evolution of Halo 5 is what you are saying?

It will feel even further removed from Halo 5 than Halo 5 felt from previous installments.

There's a reason why Halo 5 was built on the old Halo engine and Halo Infinite is being built on a brand new engine.

But that is sort of the point in halo isn't it? why is it with Halo or Gears this formula is bad, but with Uncharted or Gods OF War people give it a pass? Run from point a to point b and shoot treasure hunters, or run from point a to point b to smash people. Yet, these games get begged to have more of the same, but MS does it and all of a sudden they are miking a franchise and not evolving?

So what makes it BR related? They already dipped their toes in what you said.

GoW 4 was a pretty huge departure from previous games while staying in the same Genre. Halo needs a similar revolution, or at least evolution. Halo 5 nicely evolved the game-play while unfortunately stepping away from the larger areas of previous halo games. They need to marry the 2, and even add a dash of RPG, imo.

Halo 5s Warzone maps are significantly smaller than Fortnites and PUBGs maps.

I suspect Infinite will have map sizes more in line with Battle Royale maps.

So how does going with bigger maps and bigger battles not make it more like Battlefield?
