sometimes though I can't find a match, but its much less often than the day after launch

I have not had one matchmaking try work period. Customs work fine though. I am also on OPEN NAT and all my other games work fine. It is something with the servers/routing tables more than likely.

I'm going to start adding people, so if you see me online AND in Halo, feel free to throw an invite for customs or party match making. I'm awful though, or at least all these of playing bad FPS's have lowered my skills a great deal.

Baby sleeping here at the moment, so no mic.

I cannot believe what a buggy mess this release is. I don't pay 60 bucks to beta test a game. I'm contacting Amazon and asking for a refund for it, and I've never done that in my gaming life. I'll pick it up when the price matches the experience. No reason to reward anyone for mediocrity. Second time burned by 343i -- they never patched co-op on H:CEA. Never again at full price. Never again.

How is it possible to crash to the dash in a legendary single player play after moving through several levels without any saves being saved?

There is something seriously wrong with the industry when games like this and driveclub and ac unity make it to shelves this broken and glitchy. No idea why any consumer would accept it or allow it to stand.

I cant believe they are still having issues, tomorrow is my day off and I was thinking about grabbing this but I might hold off for a bit

Based on my experience, I'd suggest holding off until black Friday and picking it up for 39.99 or so. It will give them time to patch it and it will save you 20 bucks. And it is only a few weeks to wait.

They just made a post on an update for MCC. On my phone at the moment, seems to fix most of the problems from the quick scroll through I did. So your woes have come to an end hopefully.

I've tried that, there is no option to play the video, just view episodes or buy Halo.

BDaddy, and anyone else having problems with playing Nightfall...

if you purchased a physical copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, make sure that you've redeemed the 25 digit code that came with it on the marketing insert. I never check that stuff, just go straight to the games, and that was my mistake. Works fine now. (but really a crappy setup, if you ask me...no notice anywhere to use an access code)

There are reports of people with problems with the digital version as well. I found this from the Halo Waypoint forums:
  • Uninstall Nightfall and the Halo Channel
  • Go to the Dashboard and then hold power button in until your box turns off
  • Wait a few seconds, turn back on
  • Install the Halo Channel App
  • Try and view the episode now
If that still fails to work, you could try launching it from within the MCC section.
Alternatively, clearing your system cache. But I'm hesitent to suggest that as it also clears out game updates if I remember rightly

There is no way this game should have been getting the high scores it did

I dunno about that. What IS working is brilliant and I love it. I totally understand the frustration with multiplayer, and the desire to play it NOW, but everything will be fine, maybe in a day or two, maybe a week. It's a game. It's buggy. It will be fixed. After all, this is Halo we're talking about so I have 100% confidence that MS and 343 are working OT to get it straightened out. And I'm sure many of the reviews are reflecting the confidence of that happening sooner rather than later.

Game gets a 100 in my book, bugs and all.

MCPO thanks for the heads up, I didn't enter the code that came with the game, I'll try that later tonight. That sounds like that's my problem.

In a perfect world reviews would updated to significantly lower scores and then updated back when the game is no longer broken. Of course in a perfect world reviewers wouldn't have reviewed a game that didn't have its matchmaking servers turned on.

Well let's be real here. Why would you release a FPS that's based around matchmaking...before turning on the matchmaking servers?

Know what? I'm gonna throw my hat in that ring, but since otherwise I feel like I'm imposing, if anyone wants to, add me, get a group going for some customs to avoid the matchmaking slog.

343i statement on upcoming fix or whatever you want to call it.

I’d like to take a moment to address the state of matchmaking in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and tell you what we’re doing about it.Players have expressed frustration at poor matchmaking times, or bad experiences in general. This is something we are working 24/7 to isolate and fix. Since launch, we have done a number of daily server-side tweaks to improve this experience and our data indicates these adjustments have helped considerably, but the state is still far from where it needs to be. Over the past 48 hours, we believe we have identified the primary matchmaking issue, and are working on a solution right now. In the meantime, we’ll be rolling out additional tweaks over the next days to further improve the experience while we ready this solution. We are monitoring the data and working on tweaks that should continue to improve your matchmaking experience while we prep. In addition, we’ll be releasing a game Content Update tomorrow that will address non-matchmaking related issues. For more details, please visit our support FAQ on our forums that is being updated in real-time: http://www.aka.ms/TMCC. An additional measure you will see take effect today, is that we’ve decided to trim the hopper list to allow us to drive population to those that are functioning the best – this will serve to further increase the speed with which you find games. We will bring the other hoppers back online as things improve, but our primary focus right now is getting you into matches. For details on which matchmaking playlists are being temporarily taken offline, please visit our support FAQ here: http://www.aka.ms/TMCC. We are doing everything we can on an hourly basis to improve the experience, while we work on our solution. In the meantime, we’ve found a few things looking at the data that can help you a little as well. We’re seeing successful match times from anywhere from 15 seconds to 4 minutes. 4 minutes is a long time to wait for a match, but don’t quit out too quickly as it will come. If you haven’t found a match within about 4 minutes, please exit the search and restart, as this will reset the parameters and increase the likelihood of entering a match. I realize this isn’t ideal, but it’s temporary while we sort things out. I’d like to personally apologize to you all for the current situation. I can assure you we’re attacking this from all directions from 343 Industries to the Xbox platform, and we won’t rest until it’s what it should be. People are reporting improvements across the board, which is great, but we’re not backing down until we finish this fight. Here’s a bit more information on what to expect next week in terms of MCC updates:
  • Daily server-side tweaks to continue to improve time to get into games
  • A Content Update tomorrow that addresses some campaign fixes and scoring issues
  • Content Updates and server side tweaks over the next week focused on matchmaking

I don't know what it means, so yea. Read it, and discuss. As I said earlier, from my skimming. Seems like things will be okay.

Ketto - Bungie clearly would/did.

Right I know, but I was just saying you can't hold that against reviewers. That's all on 343i.

It'd be like Activision releasing COD without MP working then saying reviewers shouldn't review it until MP is working. I'd say Activision shouldn't launch COD until MP is working.

I might just do that, COD will hold me over, Target is charging $60 for it on Black Friday but with a $15 gift card

Bought this game on Tuesday, haven't installed it yet. Haven't even taken it out of its plastic wrap. Yet another issue with a core feature of a anticipated title. Sigh, really have to learn my lesson with buying games at launch.

This is a generation of very ignorant gamers. Back in the golden days of gaming, where games relied on much more than MP. devs had to make sure that every game was released in prime condition. There was no "patching" or updates. Sadly, this generation of gamers only care about getting their next high and not the actual quality of the game. I agree though, a game with this much hype around a core aspect of it should have not had these issues.

I also agree with this. What we currently have trumps most games on the market. The overall package is superb and deserves much praise. The fact that you can switch back and forth between games instantly while playing is truly next gen. While I do understand the frustration, it's far from the worst launch we've seen.

Just saw this posted. Seems useful enough, I haven't paid attention to that to get into games, but maybe it'll help those that are having no luck.

We’ve been working at and on various issues all day and users are seeing some improvements – and here’s a wonky but useful tip that should significantly improve some players’ experiences:

When you are in the matchmaking state, looking for players, make sure that the column on the right is headed by the string, “In Lobby” - Usually with gray boxes beneath, until a whole game is gathered.

If it’s in any other state, or you don’t see that it says “In Lobby” as pictured, you will not successfully join a game. Simply press “B” to back out to the main menu, then go back into Multiplayer and Find Game. You should see “In Lobby” and have a much better chance of finding a good session. These shots demonstrate “good” and “bad” conditions you should be attempting to get to.

Awkward? Yes. Sorry! But simple and a tiny band aid while we work on the bigger medicine. More news as we fix more stuff.-Frankie

I added you earlier, but I just saw this post just now

I tried a few times last night but no go on the matchmaking but lucky for me I have lots of friends that love halo so we had a pretty full lobby from 4v4 all the way to 8v8's last night. Many shenanigans were had.

I was in a group of four people who tried to get online last night and play matchmaking, both times we went into the searching menu and wound up quitting out after long periods of time. This game is a total mess. Microsoft really should give the consumer's something back.

It is the least they can do for asking you to pay 60 bucks to beta test what should have been a finished product. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

From what I understand they are putting band aids on to fix stuff as they go along -- temporarily, but the big meaningful update won't be until sometime next week.

For those that don't have me on their friend list, go ahead and add me. I'm up for customs and such. I have some buddies I could bring along as well.
