I've been toying with the idea of buying a gaming headset for a long time (more for the in game sounds, 7.1 ext) and now with the new generation just months away I think it could be the perfect time to buy one. I have a decent sound system in the games room (spare room upstairs) but with my daughter (in the room next door) and wife (our room down the corridor) sleeping it's hard to use it to the max at night (a time I like to do some gaming).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one I should be looking at?? I own both the PS3/360 and will own both the PS4/One. So it would need to be compatible with all devices.

like said above a headset with great sound, communication ext.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've owned various Dolby Surround Turtle Beach sets, but I've become an Astros convert. They're a bit expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. If you're willing to pay the cash, you won't regret it.

I was looking at the Turtle Beach XP5 to be honest, decent price but what's the sound like?

I've never heard of 'Astros' any more information on the model you have?

Astro A40's are popular amongst console gamers, I still have my Turtle Beach Tango headset I purchased just before BO2 released, I like them because of all the customizable pre-sets but I'm not sure if they'll work with the Xbox One (they will with PS4 because of Bluetooth) so I'll be considering the A40's myself or some variant from Astro (not the member here) that is compatible with the Xbox One out of the box.

Go Astro's or go home.

Turtle Beach are prone to falling apart, Trittons are as well. If you're going to spend $200+ on a headset may as well go the full 9 yards, spend the $300+ and get the Astro's.

I've been looking at Astro's for a while now. I have a Turtle Beach headset right now that is alright but nothing special. With the new consoles I think the next step for me will definitely be Astro.

$200/300+? I can pick up the Turtle Beach XP5's for $100 (Ebay) and I did a quick search on the A40's by Astro (Assuming you were talking about this particular model) and you can find them for $140/160.

I just picked up the Sony Pulse Elite speakers, and I like them a lot, but in your case, they probably aren't compatible with everything that you need.

I've heard amazing things about Astro's, and mixed things about Turtle Beach. Although, I have a few friends who haven't had any problems with them, but I'm not sure which model they have or anything like that.

Enough said. Bought my Astro A 40's and its one of the best purchases I've ever made. Got a digital optical going from my TV out to the Astro mixamp so anything plugged into my tv via hdmi gets output to my Astro headset in Dolby digital. 360, PS3, my cable box, blu ray played, and very soon my PS4 and X1.

Just hope the chat works with the new consoles.

Currently own the Turtle Beach XP500 after owning the X4 and enjoyed both of them.
