Horizon: Zero Dawn

I thought I studied that animal Notebook pretty well but didn't know the Stormbird had a radar. Good to know but I'd still focus on grounding him first with either fire arrows or the Ropecaster. And then using Tearblast Arrows to remove its armor to expose its weakspots. One of the great things about this game is that there are many ways to take down the machines. I used to lay traps like crazy but now I'm having fun turning the machines against one another with Corruption Arrows. Its hilarious to see a heard of Tramplers unleashing hell on each other.

Damn, where are you getting all these crazy weapons? I only still have a Carja bow, regular green ropecaster and Carja tripcaster

Just got to the edge of the border where I'm supposed to travel to Meridian. About 11 hours in.

I think at the settlements you come across that are pretty close to Meridian will sell the Shadow version of each weapon. I'm not sure if performance at the Hunter Trials plays into what becomes available because I didn't stop any particular trial until I got a Blazing Sun for it.

I'm about 35 hours in at about lvl33-34 and only last night did I step foot in Meridian for the first time. I've just been doing every side mission and hunting. In fact, a huge smile crept across my face after getting to Meridian last night because it opened up a bunch of new side missions. As you can probably tell I absolutely love this game and don't want it to end.....there better be DLC for this masterpiece.

Due to time constraints, I am not doing side quests. Main quests only. I hope that decision doesn't effect my ability to finish the game if I need different weapons to do so.

Dude. Seriously. Do the side quests. Take your time and explore this world.

Finished the game, took me 40+ hours, did every side quest I could find, collected stuff and got myself the best armor.

Hmmm...40 hours? That isn't as long as I thought then. I guess I can do the side quests. I have 60 hours in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and that was long enough. 40 seems just right.

If you can't take your time and explore everything that a game like Horizon has to offer you simply aren't living right.

Wow, I'm almost at 40hrs and I just got to Meridian. I've done every side quest up to that point. I think I padded my time in the beginning because I was setting up traps and trying to be sneaky to get close and override a machine for back-up. Plus, I don't use Mounts that often because I'd rather collect resources and fight the machines on the way to my next objective. I do fast travel sometimes but not often.

I got the Golden Fast Travel Pack 15-18 hours into the game I believe it was, bought it from a merchant in Meridian, sow did much fast traveling to do side quests that I had missed before and collecting stuff.

Just had one of those "wow" moments. I'm traveling to a mission, and come across a campfire/save point. There's some bandits around and some robots too. I hide in the grass hoping to just jump in for the quick save and be on my way when all of a sudden someone shoots an arrow just past me. Turns out, the bandits are shooting at the robots and a huge battle ensues right next to me.

Nice. It was probably a bunch of Carja. I noticed ever since I made it to the Desert section of the map they are all over the place. I once joined them on the hunt for a Stormbird. I did most of the work but they provided a nice distraction. And you can loot their dead bodies. :hehe:

I seriously want to live in this world. Just walking around enjoying the beautiful environment and not even doing any of the quests will give me hours of enjoyment.

Worldwide sales for Horizon: Zero Dawn exceeded 2.6 million units during its first two weeks of launch, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced.

The number includes both Blu-ray disc sell-through quantities and download version sales on the PlayStation Store.

The PlayStation 4 title was developed by Guerrilla Games and released worldwide starting February 28. It is the best-selling new first-party IP launch on PlayStation 4 to date and Guerrilla’s biggest ever debut.

Here’s a brief overview of the game, via Sony:

Horizon Zero Dawn is an exhilarating new action role playing game where you play as Aloy, a young hunter on a quest to discover her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. The game is set in a lush, post-post-apocalyptic world where machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species.

Find quotes from Sony and Guerrilla below.

Shawn Layden, Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios

“We knew Horizon Zero Dawn was going to be something special, so to see the incredible critical reaction to a brand new game world translate into this level of sales is really gratifying. Guerrilla has created a game that is nothing short of exceptional, and the reaction we have seen from fans – from hours and hours of gameplay streaming to endless photo sharing – shows just how impactful it has been.”

Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla Games Managing Director

“We’re thrilled that Horizon Zero Dawn has been embraced by critics and players alike. Developing the game was a labor of love, so it’s extremely satisfying to see that it elicits the same passion and enthusiasm from the gaming public that we felt during its development. This is only the beginning of Aloy’s story and our exploration of the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, with the team already hard at work on an expansion to the story.”

Getting close to buying a new 4K tv. Going to grab a new receiver tomorrow or Saturday I think and then order the TV soon. Thankful for free delivery from Best Buy because trying to haul my 80lb giant ass plasma up two flights of stairs wasn't fun at all.

The 50" plasma I have weighs over 95 pounds on the stand. The 55" 4K TV I bought last year weighed 49 pounds in the box. They're surprising light now.

Fake news. PS gamers don't buy their games.

Has anyone else accidentally tried shooting arrows at the merchants? I was wondering why I couldn't kill the bastard.

I can't decide if I would want to live there or the ruins of Hyrule.

I did that once. There were bandits around and see one guy seemingly standing guard up high. Plink! Oh sorry! Hope that guy wasn't in the merchant union.

I also can't kill pigs in friendly areas. I tried about 10 arrows and it wouldn't die. Just bleed. lol

Aside from the murderous robots the world is so peaceful and pristine. I guess that's what happens when there is no industrial activity to pollute everything. Haven't had a chance to play new Zelda but from videos it looks to be the same type of colorful world. I've enjoyed games like Elder Scrolls but the world just seems so drab in comparison.
