Horizon: Zero Dawn

As impressive a technical marvel this game may be, those head movements are hella scary. Muppets, Arlo, *cough*mynieceshandpuppets*coughs* and Hella from Thor Ragnarok head piece have more convincing and life like subtle gestures.
I don't think it's so much that the heads move, but that they move as if they don't have those giant head-peices on. It looks kinda weird. The mo-cap actors should have had head-pieces on, I guess.

Even without the head pieces, look at Aloy, it all just seems too floaty/over-exaggerated with lack of any sense of weight/resistance. Part of it is because they’re just standing there idly whilst their head is included in emoting, some of those camera angles don’t help it either.

Games like Skyrim keep their heads on check, and that’s just kinda dull but not as offensive as horizon. I feel metal gear solid, on ps1, has less wonky head gestures.

I wouldn’t put the blame much on the actors but on the animators and leads who said “that’ll do”.

Eh, I'd take the mocap from HZD over Skyrim in any day.

I'm going to go radio silent while I play through the expansion. I played through the main game without any forum input, and that was part of why I enjoyed it so much. It was just me and the game. That worked well, so I'm going to follow suit with the expansion. I'll check back in when I'm finished.

I'll leave you with some screens from Frozen Wilds, from people playing through:

Only about 45 minutes in but you can immediately tell this is a highly quality expansion comparable to blood and wine of the witcher 3. The characters of Banuks so far seem great.

I sampled the first part of the expansion, just to be reminded of the world. I think I'm going to save my playthrough for later, though.

These animated gifs are all SunhiLegend, btw.

SunhiLegend is a master of Gifs. I love his Forza Horizon gifs as well.

I hope this isn't the only expansion, they've created such a beautiful world I'd love to see more stories told there. I'm still hoping we get an expansion with Rost as the playable character telling some of his story.
rip

I'll get this eventually but have no time for it now.

Yeah I figured it would be, seems a shame though but I guess they need to move on to a sequel and maybe new hardware :)
I'm ok with it as long as there is a sequel coming. This is more like old school expansions. If a game sells good then come out with one or two full ass expansions and then move on.

I thought we knew that. Anyhow, I'm not surprised.

One more reason to hold off on playing it for now. It'll be years before the next game. No rush.

What you thinking 2020? Guerrilla are a big studio and efficient. Horizon 2 is going to be a launch PS5 game I reckon.

Anyway back to Horizon, I bought the DLC but I have continued doing the side content I never did finish from the game lol.

Not sure the PS4/Pro can last until 2020 though.

It'll be good for at least two years, we know that. I guess 2020 might be stretching it, but we don't know what else is in the pipeline.

Why is that? The Switch will last with it's weaker tech
The Switch isn't competing with anyone though. It has the exclusives to keep it going on its own. If the Xbox One X takes off and starts to get advantages then Sony is going to have to counter quicker than 3 years from now, which would put the PS4 at 7 years and the Pro at 4, which is really a stretch for basic upgrades it offered over the regular PS4.

Are you serious?

Tell me... What is Microsoft's Xbox One X offering by 2019 that will put PS4's TLoU2, and Death Stranding to shame? You know, Sony has great exclusives of their own to rely on, and in my eyes I see them as the best looking games around... but then again, maybe my eyes lie to me?

You do know that Sony will not have to counter anything when the weaker Xbox One will play the same games that the Xbox One X will get.

PS4's lead is in no jeopardy of losing any ground to the Xbox One X when it's Microsoft who is limited in support Worldwide. The PS4 & PRO will continue, like the Xbox One S, but I'll continue to think it's crazy of anyone to think Xbox One X at $500 has a chance to outpace PS4's Worldwide sales.

Sony needs to do nothing, but they can lower the PS4 PRO price to $299.99 & be $200 less than the Xbox One X
