I love me some local multiplayer games, football, Bomberman, fighters, FPS 4 player split screen from Goldeneye to Halo, split screen racers, the lot. In the advent of online gaming, local multiplayer modes have suffered. Now this is not an online multiplayer bashing thread, I think that is great too but rather a celebration of the recent indie revival of local multiplayer games.

There have been enough in the past year to call it a trend. I will let these videos do the talking as they encapsulate the fun of these games (also, working at Giant Bomb must be the best)...

Samurai Gunn

Gang Beasts

Nidhogg

Towerfall Ascension

Mount Your Friends

Sports Friends on PS3/PS4 is definitely worth picking up as well.

It's cool if you got everything set-up for it. The lack of online is greatly disturbing though.

'Greatly disturbing' is walking into the living room and your parents are having sex. Lack of online isn't disturbing especially as these games were completely designed around local multiplayer exclusively. They scratch a certain itch that other games perhaps don't

Naw, still disturbing. Gives me shivers up and down my spine just thinking about it.
