Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the only female actress that makes me laugh.

She's the only one. Some I enjoy in comedic roles, like Melissa McCarthy. Julia is the only one that I find funny all the time. I don't think there are any female stand ups that I find funny. I guess it's because I dint relate to their humor?

Is anybody else the same?

Love me some Sara Silverman! And Joan Rivers could have a vicous wit when unleashed at places like roasts. I'm sure there are others I can't think of right now.

I don't know if I generally find men funnier. Maybe I've just been exposed to more male comedy, especially growing up... so that probably informed my taste.

Never liked Joan Rivers, ever. Sarah Silverman I do like, but she doesn't make me laugh much.

I'm big on Kathy Griffin, but I love bitchy celeb stories.

And Amy Schumer rips up the roasts, and some of her skits are awesome. I really enjoyed Trainwreck too.

I think Mindy Kaling is super talented too. She was my fav character on The Office, and The Mindy Project is amazing.

And then there's Amy and Tina, they did some great work. Some of Lily Tomlins skits were decades ahead of their time.

But my all time favourite? Megan Mullally! She killed it as Karen in Will And Grace, and destroyed every scene she did with her husband in Parks and Rec.

Oh! And Molly Shannon! And Aubrey Plaza rocks my socks too.

*Edit* I saw Joan live twice, and boy did she know how to read a crowd! One show I saw, she went 40 minutes longer, because she had more stuff to tell. A fab dame.

(And a fab Aussie chick is Kitty Flannagan. She does a lot of political stuff on the ABC here. I laughed so much through her show I was massaging my mouth when I was walking out of the theatre.)

Rebel Wilson can be polarising too.

Never watched Veep but I did recently watch my whole Seinfeld DVD set again. She is funny, especially in the gag reels.

Veep has some of the tightest writing of any show for a decade, imo.

It's utterly brilliant!

The scene where she becomes president is worth downloading 5 seasons worth alone!

Oh! And add Judy Greer to my list!

Every time Jean Parmajan appears in Arrested Development, her squeel kills me!

And her delivery is always epic. There's something about an alcoholic neglectful mother that works for me.

Did you ever see a British comedy Nighty Night?

The main woman is trying to kill her neighbours MS inflicted wife, so she can steal her husband. Then to get closer, she pretends to be pregnant after being raped by their 9year old son, and she tells her husband he has terminal cancer and locks him away.

She was great on Arrested Development.

I am not a big fan of JLD but I haven't seen Veep. She was great in Seinfeld but I wouldn't say I was laughing all the time. Most women comedians don't do it for me either but I know they do some fantastic comedic writing. Samantha Bee is starting to make me laugh a lot.

Bee is also very good.

I want to F her. But I wouldn't say that she makes me laugh.

But my exposure to her work is limited to Seinfeld.

Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler have both done some epic stand up too.

I really don't get the gender divide on funny.

I find few women funny. Maybe it's because I find scripted acts not very funny. And men funnier because they are stereotypically bigger slobs so their stupid jokes are more natural.

I've seen my share of stand up comedy acts and find very few jokes funny.

But women I find funny are Marcy making fun of Al Bundy, and that blonde on old SNL shows.... Victoria something.

By some sort of magic she looks better now than she did during the Seinfeld days.

I think the issue is that too many female comics make their act female-centric and focus on the differences between men and women. The shtick is tiresome.

Oooh! Catherine Tate! Genius! I finally saw the final 2 seasons of the office, and she meshed with the cast brilliantly. I loved her skit shows as well! This character was one of my favs.

The UK has a knack for pumping out brilliant comediennes. The entire cast of Absolutely Fabulous all have moments that have made their work relevant 30+ years later.
