LawBreakers

Odd that metacritic is so quiet on this right now. It is because it is a $30 game? Or because it's just a multiplayer game?

They have to wait and see if it is actually definitively coming to XBox or not before deciding whether to give it the pre-launch No Man's Sky treatment or the post-launch NMS treatment.

I hadn't noticed that, but you're right -- Metacritic doesn't have an average yet for either version, PC or PS4. It can't be the $30 price tag, because Hellblade came out at the same price and same day, and it has 37 reviews.

So maybe it's the multiplayer aspect. Maybe they're giving it time to get its s*** sorted, before finalizing their reviews? Or maybe the lack of interest in the game is making it a low priority for them?

I'm not really one who does much competitive multiplayer but from what I've seen this game looks pretty cool. It looks like another hero shooter but a much faster & twitchy one. I did read that the learning curve is pretty steep with no tutorial. So you're pretty much thrown into the deep end of the pool and told to sink or swim.

The price seems reasonable. I don't want this game to fail because I'd like to see more from Cliffy B's studio.

That example that doesn't make much sense

I think it has to do with lack of advertising, hype and single player.

The problem with the game is that it didn't go full douche-bag.

Cliffy B is a complete douche, and he obviously listened to his producers, and reigned in his douchebaginess.

The gampley may be fun, even great, but it's not remarkable in the gaming landscape.

It's not fully douche enough to stand out. And it's not generic enough to let the gampley sing.

It's half douche.

No-one likes half a douche.

The marketing was too edgy for my tastes. "SKILLS AF" really.

I saw more social media activity about hip kids at the launch party than people actually having fun with the game. It's almost as if the game was just too cool for me. The sad part is that it had potential to be a big seller...

I am looking forward to my first douche.

From Eurogamer:

Interviewer: People do seem to be enjoying it. The problem seems to be there aren't enough people playing it. There were 1500 concurrents when I last looked - that's quite low.

Cliff Bleszinski: It's like I said, it's a marathon not a sprint. I'd rather be the underhyped game that slowly ramps up into something that people adore than something that comes out with way too much hype that there's a backlash for, which is why I think the Steam reviews are so positive. We're going to continue to raise awareness, continue to support the product - if you look at the phenomenon that was League of Legends, it built off a Warcraft 3 mod then slowly but surely blossomed into this immense amazing thing, and I'd rather be the game that comes up and has that hockey stick ramp with a slow burn and builds up rather than the triple-A hype machine where you have a bazillion people playing it month one and it goes down exponentially then they follow up with an annual product.

I'm just surprised by the amount of hate I keep reading in the comments section for any story about Lawbreakers. I thought Cliffy B was well liked within the gaming community but that doesn't seem to be the case. There were so many voicing their happiness for this game's apparent lack of out of the gate success. Maybe I missed something he did that enraged gamers but I always liked his enthusiasm and passion for game development.

PS4/Pro vs. PC, the Parity Free Version:

PS4: 900p
PS Pro: 1404p

Though PS Blog said:

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...s-sacrifice-lawbreakers-dreadnought-and-more/

"Developer Boss Key Productions have laid on a selection of improvements which benefit all PS4 Pro users depending on their setup. For users that are hooked up to 4K televisions you can expect the ultimate visual clarity with a ultra-HD output of maximally 3840 x 2160 running at a wonderfully smooth 60FPS."

Comments are funny in that video.

I haven't followed Cliffy B enough to know, but my sense is that some people think he's egotistical or full of himself, or a douche, or a man-child, or something along those lines. He was very popular back when Gears was unveiled (and prior to that), but in the last 5 years or so, it seems like a lot of people have grown tired of him. I'm not really sure why. There is probably some contingent of Xbox gamers who are unhappy he is not working exclusively with MS, but that can't be the whole reason.

Even with Gears original, everyone thought he was a douche. That is when the meme's started....
