Just a heads up for anyone who enjoyed Life is Strange -- Before the Storm is actually pretty good. I went in skeptical, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

- Good writing/dialog
- Good storytelling, pacing
- Really fun, unique mini-game I won't spoil
- Chloe is more fun than I expected
- Nice to see some of the old characters again

3 episodes, $6 a pop. Episode 1 was just released.

Awesome news! I am on the fence about BtS, LiS is one of my favorite games that I played last year, I don't know if a prequel was warranted though. I think the story of Max and Chloe is great as is, though finding out more about Rachel might be cool. How much different is the voice actress that plays Chloe compared to the original?

Well, she's noticeably different, but she's good. I forgot about it after a few minutes, because she has Chloe's personality down, and she delivers the lines well.

It's pretty impressive how another studio captured the flavor of the original series. The visual style, the atmosphere, the way people relate -- it all feels very familiar.
 
Had some credits in my account that were set to expire and I really liked Life is Strange, so...I went ahead and got it.

I will get this when the whole series is out. I hate doing it with time gaps between chapters. LiS was one of the finest story-driven games of this gen.

Episode 2 coming Oct. 19.
 
Second episode is really well done. I'm impressed. This is as good as the original.

Awesome to hear! I'm prolly gonna get the "deluxe" edition, or whatever it called, and playthrough it when they're all released.

I'm playing this a 2nd time. It's very good, very entertaining.

Yep, not a fan of playing episodic games piecemeal. Same with TV series, I will probably wait and binge on Stranger Things 2 like I did with the first series.
 
Yeah, this is a really good game; it would probably be #5 in my games of the year. Well, so far at least. One episode to go.
 
Replayed the first two episodes over the past two days. I really enjoyed it. I was impressed by how different the scenes played out, the second time around. There is a lot of variation there, depending on your choices and whether you win the dialog challenges.

That totally caught me by surprise! Watched the first 3 episodes and I am sucked in completely. (Not much unlike how the first Life is Strange sucked me in...cant wait to give this one a try once it is all out for consumption)

Third episode should be out in December. There is a bonus episode as well, and it'll be released in early 2018. They just announced that Ashley Burch will be returning in the role of Chloe, which is good news, although I thought her replacement did a fine job. Also, Max's voice actor is back (there was some talk about her being replaced).

Psyched! I read this earlier today and was even more happy that I bought Deluxe Edition of Before the Storm during MS' Black Friday sale :)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that bonus episode -- also to the last episode.

Ashly Burch is suddenly a star. Max's voice actress is shy. I'm glad she's back, too. I could deal with Chloe being replaced (because I didn't like her all that much in the original ... I didn't dislike her, either, tho), but it would be weird to have a new voice for Max.

There was a rumor that the next episode will be out on Dec. 8 or 9th. I'm not sure if there's any truth to that.
 
I haven’t played any Life is Strange game but was looking for a story based game to play with my 12 year old girl. She’s obsessed with Stranger Things but we finished up Season 2. Think this franchise would be a good candidate. What’s your thoughts everyone?

It has a good deal of adult subject matter, swearing, drug/alcohol use, violence, to name some without getting into spoiler territory. I don't know how "worldly" your daughter is and how comfortable you'd be discussing the subject matter with her, it gets pretty deep.

Yeah haven't played this one yet but the first one can get dark at times. I would recommend something like Tales from the Borderlands instead.
 
In general, it's a great game to introduce non-gamers (and women) to, and it has some supernatural elements that might be interesting to her, plus lots of college freshman type drama. But like BDaddyK and yankee are saying, she's probably too young for some of it. For instance, the game features themes/topics like
drugs, murder, suicide, and euthanasia.
 
The last episode releases Dec. 20th.
 
Finished episode 3 last night. The game is really well done, nice little story that delves into the origin of Rachel and Chloe's relationship, and does well by the established characters. Pleasantly surprised how good the game is, I was kinda skeptical how the game was going to be without the original developer and how much a prequel was really warranted. A definite playrhrough is in order if you enjoyed Life is Strange.

Gut punch of a post credit scene. I'd thought that they might show Jefferson just arriving at Blackwell in anticipation of the upcoming school year, as the Prescotts had just made that huge donation to the arts department of the school.
