To be able to chat and voice during the E3, I quickly created a UVGF Discord Server.

It isn't official of course, but if you click on the link you can join :). You have to have discord of course :).

Oh and PLainview, just message me once you arrive, I'll transfer Ownership to you :).

And miss out in increasing my post count?!

Quality over quantiy, my friend. :). You can have 200 Edisons, but one Tesla can outdo em all ;).

I won't be there at that time though, I need my sleep for my workday :(. Seriously MS and Sony need to look at Nintendo a bit more, they are a bit more Euro Friendly with their times :p.

Microsoft and Discord Team Up to Connect Gamers Across Xbox Live and Discord

940x528-hero.png

PC and console gamers, unite! Today we are excited to announce a new collaboration between Xbox and Discord.

Connecting with friends is such a big part of why people game. Gamers all over the world use and love Discord to easily chat and connect with friends while they game. In the coming weeks, this collaboration will make it easier for gamers to choose to do just that – make it easier to connect and see what friends are playing across console and PC. It’s part of the work we are doing to provide gamers with more choice, allowing them to play how and where they want to.

In response to your feedback, you will now have the option to link your Discord account to your Xbox account, making it easier than ever to see what your friends are playing. If you are playing Sea of Thieves on your Xbox, you can now choose to give your Discord friends the ability to see that and decide whether they want to hop on their Xbox and join you.

How will it work?

From Xbox One

As an Xbox Insider, starting soon in preview, you will also have the added option to link your Xbox Live account to your Discord account directly from your Xbox One, which will become available to the broader Xbox community soon. Open the Account Settings menu on Xbox One, and select “Linked social accounts.” Here, you will see a new option for linking your Discord account. Once you receive your unique code from Xbox, open the Discord app and insert the code within the Connections tab.

From PC

From the Discord app on PC or on a mobile device, in the coming weeks you will see an option to link your Xbox account with your Discord account through the Connections tab under User Settings. Click on the Xbox Live option and sign in to your account. After enabling permission, your accounts will be linked.

After following these few simple steps, your accounts will be linked and your Xbox Live game presence can be shared across Discord, enabling friends and users in your same Discord servers to see what you’re playing on Xbox Live.

We’re excited about working with Discord and are thrilled to enable new ways for gamers to connect with one another online. For more on the latest news from Xbox, stay tuned to Xbox Wire. That's cool. Never used discord, but I know lots of people do.

Seems weird to announce this without voice support.

DISCORD EXEC ON THE CHAT SERVICE'S IMPRESSIVE GROWTH, PARTNERING WITH XBOX AND MORE

http://www.newsweek.com/discord-cel...nging-gamers-together-impressive-stats-929524

Chat service Discord celebrates its third birthday this month, and the company has seen some monstrous growth in the last year. The number of users has more than doubled in that time, and now sits at over 130 million. The growth is almost entirely organic, thanks in large part to the company’s drive to engage with its community and build on user feedback.

It has been a year since I last visited UVGF, mostly been too busy with work and s*** posting on non gaming sites. I know it's been a year as I had started a Discord channel for UVGF to watch the E3 with other Unionists ;). It never took off :(.

I do however downloaded Sea of Thieves recently, and wondered if by now there was an official one. I would love to play this game with others, especially on my maiden voyage, and thus Discord came to mind.

If there is none yet, would it be an idea to invite people to the old E3 one, add channels for the games we frequently play and start a bit of a community outside of our phones and browser windows?

Sorry if this has been asked before by others and I'm beating a dead horse :p.

PS: I never got around to the CPU article for the One X. Reasons, outside of temperature and power usage there has been little evidence to the changes that it has compared to the Xbox One's CPU. Since it's higher clocked it's probably a Puma rather than a Jaguar (since that is pretty much the only difference between those two), and the temperature and power usage are "profiles" they set after testing the CPU part of the APU that comes of a waver (so it isn't a specific design element). There has since then been little evidence to counter this, and it was something I waited for.

As the article stands now, it's nothing more than explaining what a CPU does, and there are plenty of those already on the web ;).

Do we have a Discord channel?

I've been using it much more then last 6 months.

https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-gamertags-may-take-more-discord-format-soon

Xbox Gamertags are moving to a format more familiar to users of Battle.net and Discord, allowing you to use any name you wish, even duplicates (...) with a hash number at the end.

Xbox Live profiles are also getting an overhaul. (...) complete with your activity feed, and the ability to include statistics from other platforms, including PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC games.

I've never used discord so I don't know exactly what this means, but having duplicate gamertags with hashtag numbers afterward just seems even more annoying than having xX/Oo's on either side...

Better MS then 10cent or google or facebook. WHy can't developers still independence.

I hate that less people/corp are controlling more things, & using their power for political & ideological agenda.

If I had a nickel for every MS purchase false rumor I would be a rich man.

Or close it out like Mixer.

Teams will stick around for sure. It is far too valuable on the business side of things. I saw someone mention rebranding it as "Teams for Games" or something like that, since the people who use Discord don't need most of what Teams does.

Teams does a lot. It is basically chat (Discord, Slack) + video conferencing (Zoom, Skype) + some of what Trello does + a wiki (confluence, etc).
