Microsoft At E3 2018

If true, that would be a huge surprise. Pretty sure a community manager or 343 said recently that we won't see THAT Halo news this year.

Maybe they’ll pull a Netflix and on stage they announce the new Spielberg Halo miniseries is out on Netflix that same night

Halo 6 isn't coming this year.

I kind of always thought VR would be coming in 2018 but I'm not even so sure on that anymore.. it kind of seems like something that Spencer would push off until 1st party is releasing reliable big content again.

I don't think it's coming this year. Are you really expecting H6 to be revealed this E3 and to be out in november or december? I don't see this happening.
It could be a surprise but they already said is wasn't so...

My guess is this year they may go even bigger with their Fanfest event, including something just for the press (hands on) on Monday, after their press briefing on Sunday.

I'm like 90% sure on VR this year! You don't go saying that your next console was built for "high fidelity VR", only to wait for the hardware advantage to become dated before releasing said VR equipment. The more I think about it, the excuses they gave last year for going VR-less at E3 were incredibly cookie cutter. Especially the bit about not trying to distract developers in the first year. Don't worry about the"VR needs to be wireless" bit. They can just announce that the wireless adapter will be available next year (if not ready), and they can just have out plug into the existing HMD. It will surely be built with this in mind

Even if Halo 6 launches next year, I'm absolutely sure that some form out Halo will be shown at this E3. Book it! I'm also going to predict a VR element to it announced.

Where / when did they say this?

In their blog they said

"2018 has arrived and with it, the promise of new fun times to be had and adventures to be embarked upon. No, not those adventures, but plenty of exciting ones regardless – some which might surprise you more than others."

And the guy on resetera who seems to have correctly got at least Fable said

I would love to have a really high player-count (connections per session) for Xbox biggest franchise.

That makes me think Halo Battle Royale

So not Halo 6. I don't see a Halo Wars 3 coming anytime soon. Yankee thinks it might be a battle royale game, but can that would mean they've been working on this already and not trying to jam it in after seeing PUBG?

Hmmm..... A Halo action RPG would be cool. Maybe something along the lines like Fallout or Mass Effect, but in a Halo universe.

To be clear. New Halo game by 343i revealed is 100%. Whether its Halo 6 or another interquel IDK (im happy with either).

Phil and 343I have confirmed they are hard at work on a new Halo FPS so its not a secret.....but if its not a secret, why no trailer? Not even a CGI one? Literally every Gears and Halo have been announced with a trailer, not a nonchalant blog post or post-E3 interview.

They want us to know its happening, but want to save the reveal for a certain media event.

IMO theres probably some research showing games do better (sales) with shorter reveal leads and is pretty much a norm for CoD,Forza,Destiny2,Assassins Creed, new Tomb Raider, Battlefield and so on...so thats why.

Beats spending another year waiting and raising the budget.

If they acted on it quick enough they could have had 18 months or so for it.

I can see them try something new..maybe release a new type of game this year and thave a reveal CGI trailer for H6 that says 2019. I would love for them to do a story driven 3rd person game in the Halo universe. Halo has such a rich lore and so many awesome stories to tell within the universe.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not opposed to H6 this year. I would just be very surprised if they do regardless of sale trends.

Major Nelson said they're changing things up, so I think that means they're going to buck trends and make Halo 6 a linear, story-driven adventure game that lasts 8 hours and has no multiplayer. It will be a mixture of corridor shooting and long cutscenes focusing on the relationship between Master Chief and his long-lost daughter, Sally Chief.

This is small....smaller than 2017:

So many exclusives. Too many exclusives. By the the time Microsoft is done you're going to be sick of exclusives.

Who knows what MS has up their sleeve. But size isn't everything.

I highly doubt SE is going to show more games than every other game company. And the chances of Bethesda showing the second most games is zero.

this thread is clickbait though as you haven't shown anything comparable to the quoted.

Major Nelson is downplaying E3 because they have some major announcements coming. Wild times ahead. Imma get SUPER excited as soon as I take the Christmas tree and lights down. Straight ridiculous...

It f***ing better. 343 better be making 2 games otherwise. Thats some straight up Bulls*** if We get 2 x Star Wars Battlefronts and 2 x Battlefields in between Halos.

The next Halo needs time to marinate; Halo 5 was launched too soon and then cobbled together, TMCC was cobbled together and then launched too soon... the next game has to hit all cylinders, launch with all MP components in place, have an excellent single player experience without copy/paste boss guy all over the place, no weird in between level stand around and chat mission (which were likely fragments left over from scope being cutback), most of all it needs a fully told story/adventure within a single game (Halo CE did it, Halo 2 did the cliffhanger better, Halo 3 did it, Halo Reach did it, hell, even Halo 4 managed it). Halo 5 story farted around too long, even the campaign missions were a drag and the story didn't start to develop until the last few missions and then they pull the rug out and ended the game. They can't do that again.

A second game in development sounds probable at this point, there's no way Phil Spencer hasn't been listening to feedback and there is no way a team that big doesn't have loftier ideas other than 'more halo' they want to try.

Agreed.

Halo hasn't been king console FPS since probably Halo 2 or 3. Every since all these CoDs and BFs came out, they rule the console shooter roosts. They churn out games every 1-2 years and still sell great. They have an advantage of very different settings to spice things up.

Halo is Halo. Sci-fi and kind similar. You can only churn these out every so often. Historically, it shows (excl. ODST) a game comes out about every 3 years. So that would make Halo 6 a fall 2018 game.

I don't see gamers craving Halo as if a 3 year gap is torturously long. A fall 2019 game would work better. That would be a 4 year gap.

Keeping my expectations tempered that way if MS does pull some legit surprises I'll be excited. For some reason though, I'm not expecting all that much.
