Microsoft bought Titanfall outright?

....and it hasn't even launched and already that fact makes it more interesting than the other 'cliched' FPS that are out there.
yes its interesting, yes it will probably be the next big thing. but saying it's the first truly next gen game......

360 Version isn't done by respawn, so you could be a different game especially when I believe Titanfall is a multiplayer game so its probably using xbox one' s cloud.

Please up the resolution.. after playing KZ ..even though its blah...the graphics ohhh my ...ill never go back.

Well what you call 'truly next gen' and what I call differ...obviously. As with everyone..it is a statement of opinion.

That being said....the devil is in the gameplay. You can have all the crazy next gen visuals in the world and it won't save you if what you play at the end result is boring or something you have played a thousand times before.
I personally would rather have a game that is genuinely fun to play (as Titanfall seems to be) rather than a game that relies on its visual merits to draw in and ultimately bore me.

Cross gen game is the best description, unless your definition of next gen is in the interface/UI/voice stuff.
Characteristic of cross gen game. Same poly count model as last gen, but sharper texture & higher resolution (if at all), more AA, & give or take some extra effect.

Basically, its like playing PC version of current gen game, set to higher settings.

True next gen game that is optimise for next gen console should have more details in the models, world , to take advantage of the extra power. You cannot simply upgrade or downgrade poly details in a game, unlike resolution, AA, textures, hence cross platform game use the lowest denominator which is last gen, & there is only so much you can do to your textures to improve a low poly game model.

Having said that, its not a big deal, at least for the 1st year or 2 of the next console, after that, I expect most titles will be developed with true next gen visuals.

The game are only on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC.
- So if you're expecting this to reach same massmarket as Call of Duty, you'll most likely end up dissapointed.

If Call of Duty was an Xbox exclusive from the start it's likely that Sony would be out of business. Titanfall is going to be absolutely huge this gen for Microsoft. We've yet to see anything on the level of even Halo, and Gears of War in terms of exclusive shooters on a PS console. Now you throw in Titanfall? Game changer.

Is this confirmed at all? If not the thread should probably get tossed.

If CoD were a 360 exclusive - the only difference would be that Activiosion wouldn't be competing with EA to be the biggest third-party publisher - Sony would still be fine.

In terms of quality, Playstation have several good shooters compared to Halo/Gears, in terms of sales/popularity both Uncharted 2 and 3 have sold just as many million units as the first two - best selling - Gears-games - Gears 3 is at a million less than the those two - and Gears of War:Judgement is less than 1.5 million sales - so overall Uncharted is probably the more interesting franchise for most people now, and that seems to be a growing sales-trend while Gears seems to be shrinking in sales.

And that's the retail-only numbers - there have been various PS+ promotions of Uncharted on PS3 and been sold digitally way longer - so I'm pretty sure that the franchise is bigger - and it has bigger legs.

- I'm fairly certain that The Last of Us-franchise will end up eclipsing both those franchises next generation, that game had 3.4 millions sales in 3 weeks, more than twice the numbers the latest: Gears of War-game has today.

Sure, Playstation don't have a FPS as popular as Halo, but they do got a car-game GT's and beat-em up's like God of War, etc. :-/
A company dosn't live and die by a FPS. :-/ You just have to go back to N64, and see it struggle in the marketplace against PS, despite Super Marios 64 doing 12 million sales, wich is a much larger percentage of the total gaming-market than CoD have today.

Whole bunch of assuming going on here mate. You know what they say about assumptions, right?

Dude assumes Sony would be out of buuisness if they lost a single third-party franchise - and people also say those who remain silent agrees - and noone spoke out a different opinion until I came along, even tough 99% of the forum here ought to have common sense. :-/

They probably bought the rights to keep it exclusive. Respawn owns the IP. Of course MS could pull a fast one and buy Respawn, then publish any future games from them, which in turn would mean they now own the IP as well.

Titanfall will release and sell XO consoles. From there on, thats a lock mate. Titanfall will not grace the PS4 and the PC version won't hurt sales at all. I'm really looking forward to playing a FPS with a fresh perspective.

The XBOX360 version wasn't made by Respawn and won't have the bells and whistles that the XBOX ONE (best version according to Respawn) and PC will have.

Td bank Titan fall will be on pc also this will hurt xbone sales of the game.

Kind of like how CoD or BF on the PC hurts console sales for those games, LOL! Get real. There is a reason these games sell massive amounts on consoles and little amount on the PC. They are made for console play. Even Respawn has said Titanfall was made for the XBOX ONE.

Well that and because piracy generally always causes PC sales to be low for some of these games.
