Microsoft could debut 12-inch Surface at upcoming event

Microsoft could launch a larger Surface device at its upcoming event on May 20th. While a smaller Surface is all but confirmed, reports from an analyst bring evidence that a 12-inch device aimed at business users could be unveiled.
According to CNET, IHS Technology analyst Rhoda Alexander stated:
There are strong indications that there is a 12-inch product coming down the pipeline. Limited US launch is feasible.
While this approach would make sense considering competing rivals have unleashed similar sized productivity tablets earlier in the year, it will be interesting to see how this new tablet will be branded. Currently, Microsoft has two lines of tablets, the Surface and Surface Pro. The former is aimed at tablet users and includes added values like Office. The Surface Pro runs a full version of Windows and is essentially a computer in a smaller and more portable package.
This 12-inch device could possibly be the rumored Surface Pro 3. If so it would align well with speculation that the new device will utilize Intel Haswell processors. With less than a week to go before the Surface event, it looks like Microsoft is set to unveil some interesting tablets.

give me a tiblat that can fut a full size comic book page and I'll buy it

Sounds like Surface Pro is going full ultrabook. The current 11-inch is a compromise. Tablet should be smaller, ultrabook should be bigger, so this seems like the best bet.

If the pro is getting a bigger screen, they will have to find a way to make it lighter otherwise it will be harder to use as a tablet. I have the pro 2 and i think the screen size is perfect and its the best tablet/computer i have had. I can play full pc games on steam with no problems. It is a little heavy though which is the only downside i have with it. Some of the specs of the new pro 3 i have heard are nice especially if there is a model with an i7 processor but is costly though.

I7 model starts at 1549 which i would have loved to get but definitly too much for it. Preorders start tomorrow and the i3 and i5 units will be available june 20th whilte the i7 models will be out august 31st. Looks like the old touch and type covers can be used on the pro 3 but would be best to use the new type cover which i like the bigger touchpad on it.

I'd consider getting the surface tablet when Microsoft dumps the goofy metro interface. Until then I'm sticking with the IPad I have from work.

It'd be nice to use the surface for excel/word/outlook, but it also doesn't have some of the construction/engineering programs that I need that the IPad has.

lol at the price.. They trying to compete with Apple?

MS is trying to compete with the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. Compared to those laptops, Surface Pro 3 is quite attractive.

Only a fool would try to compare the Surface Pro 3 to the iPad.

The surface pro can run any windows programs that are available, and with windows 8.1 you are able to boot right to the desktop and not even have to see the metro interface. The start menu on the desktop will be coming back in next update though. The surface pro is the best computer/tablet i have ever had and easily beats the ipad for me at least.

I would love the i7 8gb model but cost is too high for me, but the pro 2 i have now handles just about anything i throw at it, some games of course are hard to play due to being intel hd graphics but i just recently started playing arma 3 on it and its pretty cool. Its my PC gaming rig now for me which only ever played on consoles before.
