Microsoft makes Unity license free for all ID@Xbox Developers

Doesn't exactly sound too stringent to me, all that says to me is that intially they aren't going to accept people that just decided to become indie devs to get 2 free X1's...lots of the smaller 'real' indies devs have multiple titles developed.
What are the criteria for becoming a member of ID@Xbox?
Of course, we’ll be evaluating each developer application individually on its own merits, but in the initial phase of ID@Xbox, we are looking for professional independent game developers (i.e. large company's with buildings/offices) who have a proven track record of shipping games on console, PC, mobile, or tablet (i.e. $$$$$$$$$$). We want to ensure your success (i.e. We want to make sure we can make money from your game) in your development effort on Xbox One. Developing and publishing a console game is not trivial! (i.e. No scrubs, we want Minecraft and Angry Birds)

Our longer term plan is that anyone with a retail Xbox One will be able to develop, publish, and sell their game on Xbox Live (i.e. For the rest of you small devs, we are trying to find a way we can profit from you as well, give us time).

Just chock full of cynicism aren't you.
Just calling this bs out. This announcement is not directed at indie devs, who already understand how this all works, but is simply a PR talking point to the average gamer who has zero insight into how these things work to make it seem like they are being supportive of indie devs.

Yeah! How dare MS try to give something for free to certain indie devs? They should be like Sony and give all of them nothing free. :troll:
