My trip to Shanghai (Pictures, Gifs)

Betcha you have a lot of fun there! You're lucky dude. :) I'd love to go there and visit.

i have been to Fo Shan and Hong Kong. Would love to see Shanghai. How was the pollution?

I was just going to ask if you ran into Jackie Fhan. DP beat me to it.
Yap, talk about him, he didn't join here did he.?His Jacky chan gif is bloodly irritating.

Anyway, I was at the aquarium too, & some of the places in the pictures.

Nice, it is many places to experience in Shanghai.

Do have some older videos as well that I maybe post a bit later on, was one very large Zoo in Shanghai that I have much videos of.

Do you know anything about Chinese people?

Do you know where sailors hang out?

You should have took a good camera. I always cringe when I see people taking pics from vacations, important events etc with crappy cameras. I know most people dot care but I just couldnt do it

I'm asking serious questions here! Do you know where those sailors hang out or not?

By the docks ?

Tho have not seen any sailors myself, then again I have not been close to the docks.

It is old that video camera, 2007 model, tho I did had to reduce the quality even more to making gifs to keep size down, but yeah quality could have been better.

Looks like a nice place to visit. I should save a couple of grand, quit my job at Walmart and go to China. I need to install skype and meet a nice Chinese female, first.

Not to say anything bad about Chinese girls, there are nice one out there, I know a few (I have friends from company branch there, as well a supplier), but you have to be very careful, especially girls you meet on pubs or areas where expat goes like xitianti. Girls introduce by friends, know at work, or you meet on social gathering etc should be fine.

I should know....but I do not want to share the detail. Just be careful. Its a different culture out there, & don't easily trust anyone. Even the Chinese do not trust the Chinese (said one of my Shanghai friend), & foreigner being green, should be extra careful.

Ah when talk about trust issues, yeah there was something my wife told to me about regarding that.
Personal stuff.

Also she did tell me some other stuffs, as a foreigner there are many sellers that wants to rip you off, to chinese people they sell much cheaper than to us foreigners.
However when I started to demand same price was very few that did not sell to me cheap.

Its hard to blame them also (& its not only in China does this happen, as its fairly common thing in Asia except maybe Japan) to try to rip off foreigners. Its not easy in a city like Shanghai, where the rich/poor gap is very wide, & cost of living is relatively very high for the poor. But some do cross the line to be consider as cheating.

In any case, its especially important to behave well, & keep calm & avoid confrontation unless absolutely necessary in a foreign nation. There is still some resents to Westerner by many part of the world, due to historical, or some other reasons, & some people will use any opportunity to get even.

Having said that, China, & especially the bigger coastal cities are still better, safer & certain comparable (if not better in infrastructure than many Western nation cities), then most South East Asia countries, where you have to be much more careful.

Shanghai is certainly worth at least a trip, if you have not. Its pretty hard not to be impress by it, & the speed of the progress of the city in a few decades.

I wasn't serious. Lol. I was making fun of Jackie Fhan because that is exactly what he did before going to China.

Yes, but it was often the more well dressed sellers that demand high prices, the once that are very good at english.

I was impressed by some of the more poor sellers, they demanded much lower prices, was even one seller that told us the real price and that if gotten price above that was cheated, but he did not speak english at all, my wife did translate all to me (and real price was 3-5 times lower then what the well dressed sellers demanded).

Yeah I agree, it is worth a trip (for me has been many trips), but my wife always does tell me when walking in big crowds to watch my wallet.
