These 1:1 screenshots are from the highest quality Gamersyde videos, and direct captures from The Last of Us Remastered.

The closeup of Drake's 'brother' a similar amount of detail as TLOU Remastered and the Uncharted 4 teaser closeups. The main difference is they aren't soaking wet, and the lighting is different.

It's ridiculous to claim downgrade based on comparing gameplay and cutscene footage. Of course cutscenes are going to look better than actual gameplay.

The closeup of Drake's 'brother' shows just as much detail as TLOU Remastered and the Uncharted 4 teaser closeups. The main difference is they aren't soaking wet, and the lighting is different.
They are certainly pretty damn close. The people trying to downplay how good this game looks are pathetic.

Looks fantastic but even more impressive was drakes fluent animations. What's the estimated date this is coming out?

Looked boring as hell, but as usual, animations were excellent. They needed to do much shorter sequences to keep it interesting. As for visuals, clean and detailed, but not very interesting. I'm sure there are much better areas in the game, couldn't they have shown something more interesting? The draw distance was awesome.

I think even if its not the same as the other cutscene its close enough. There were other things that were great about the footage too.

I think most people understood that the teaser was in-engine. Gameplay is pretty close to that already and there's a year left to fine tune.

Yeah, remember this is pre-alpha. Lots of time to improve on everything still.

Play as shirtless Drake at some point in the game? :hehe:

That's insane. The guy points out a lot of realistic detail that I've missed watching it live for the first time. Can't believe this is just pre-alpha and it looks this good.

Yeah he does a great job in pointing out so many of the little things that make a big difference.

Game to me looks great but it will hard to tell how good it looks till it's on your TV.

I think the people maybe let down forget just how under powered the new systems are hardware wise in this day and age and everyone knew ND would push the PS4 damn close to its limit. People need to just deal with the fact games of this gen are not going to blow away last gen games.

Game looks great and I'm so looking forward to it.

Looks great, but the guy is a bit over-enthusiastic. Push the envelope on level design? Er, ok. This guy is throwing around a lot of techno-babble, lol. The lighting is hardly unheard of. He keeps talking about tesselation when I can't see where he's getting it from. Looks like it has a great LOD though. I don't think the caustics are real either, as they bounce around the ceiling, but don't affect drake himself. They guy is definitely over-impressing himself, but whatever, he's having fun.

I definitely like that there seem to be more open areas for combat interactions. I can't wait to see where they go with it. I'm not smoked visually (I'm much more impressed by the Order, say), but ND are so damn good at the little details. What I really love is all the physical interactions with the foliage, and the sim on the rope and straps.

Anyone else reminded of Halo 4 in the light rendering? It popped into my head head while watching this.

Edit: lol, Still watching the breakdown. This guy is over-inflating stuff. He sounds like Flynn! Awesome explosions and dust, but they aren't volumetric, as you can clearly see the facing polys shift as Drake climbs around the ledge!

Guy was having a physical orgasm over his postulation. All great detail, but nothing really going on that's not just a next step from what has come before from other games.

people have been saying this since Sony first entered this race, and they've been blown away every single time by the end results.

there is a code (a pedigree) that they abide by; they build their platforms (PlayStation) around everything else that has to plug into it and not the other way around like their competitors. if the console is too weak, everything else that leeches off of it takes a major hit and therefore doesn't function properly if at all. by Sony having their hand in many pots with PlayStation as their trojan, it only makes sense as to why they've follow this practice so closely for the pass generations. for that reason is why every console of theirs has been robust enough for the long haul, so forgive me when I say that your expectations for their system is moderate at best.

It looked great. Naughty Dog did it again. I can't wait to play Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

like I said, give it time... Ryse was never the peak mark, and as great as this looks, neither is it. point is a number of you underestimate what is possible because you can't embrace the fact that games are beginning to look less and less like......well games.

It only looks better than the footage because there is nothing to distract your eyes from the model, the model looks great in the footage as well.

I don't want to play as an old man! Keep him young and hot!

If you watch the building Nathan drake vid, they go from the high resolution promo pics to the shown footage, and it's a pretty big difference. A lot of that is due to the real time lighting solution can't touch the promo renders whether they are in game assets or not.

I find it interesting that they are using a shader for the stitches. Their artist tools and material libraries sound incredible! The sophistication of the shaders the are using is massively impressive too.
