Naughty Dog is a renowned studio which has made numerous visually-stunning games like The Last of Us and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. A highlight of these experiences is the impressive texture quality with assets that enhance immersion. Rogelio Olguin, a senior environment artist at Naughty Dog, is leaving the developer after six years to work on Halo Infinite at 343 Industries. Olguin announced his departure on ArtStation a day ago.

It's great to see 343 Industries pick up someone with this much experience from a world-class studio. Hopefully his expertise will boost Halo Infinite in the coming months especially when it comes to textures.

I am going to part of Microsoft Studios with the 343 crew. This adventure started almost two months ago, and I am thrilled, excited, elated, pumped, overjoyed, and generally a happy camper that this is happening. Always loved the Halo universe and 343 has something special coming up. Something so special that 343 managed to rip me from the clutches of a studio I hold near and dear to my heart Naughty Dog! I have been at Naughty Dog for almost six years now and it has been the longest studio I have ever worked at in my career... You all know me, I tell it to you all straight. I am heartbroken to leave such a great studio. The people from all levels have been great to me.

Halo Infinite is shaping up to be quite an experience, and from the teaser, it seems like the game is going the open-world route. However, at this point we don't know much about the project so it's all speculation. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more information to share.

343 Industries Here I come and Goodbye NaughtyDog

Been holding this announcement too long! I am going to part of Microsoft Studios with the 343 crew. This adventure started almost 2 months ago, and I am thrilled, excited, elated, pumped, overjoyed, and generally a happy camper that this is happening. Always loved the Halo universe and 343 has something special coming up. Something so special that 343 managed to rip me from the clutches of a studio I hold near and dear to my heart Naughty Dog! I have been at ND for almost 6 years now and it has been the longest studio I have ever worked at in my career. ND has been by far the best studio I have worked in my entire experience as a game dev. The people at ND are a great bunch from top to bottom. You all know me, I tell it to you all straight. I am heart broken to leave such a great studio. The people from all levels have been great to me. I had a moment of need in the early days at ND in which leads, HR, and close colleagues were very supportive and helped me get through those issues either through advice or time to process it all.NaughtyDog has about the most passionate, but also human people I know. It feels like I am leaving a family for sure. I know NaughtyDog will do amazing so wishing them luck is like nothing… I do not wish them luck… I just want them to continue to be the top in the industry so I have something to fight for when in other studios; So at 343 we can try to hit that bar!So what will I be doing at 343… I will be helping of course, like I always do at the places I am a part of. :) I have yet to move. I am here for a few weeks in LA getting stuff sorted for the big move to Seattle.

Think a few have come over from ND in the last couple years.

Nice. The environments in ND games are some of the best.

Along with the more organic back to roots approach already shown in the engine demo, this hire can only help make the game be even more stunning.

As long as it isn't somebody that was involved in ND character designs, I think we'll be good.

Super happy for this guy. Welcome to my house! Enjoy Seattle, bruv!

Good. Halo 5 had gross textures in a lot of areas of the game. Halo CE set the bar for textures for its time. It’s good to see 343 putting this thing back in the oven while bringing in more talent. Apparently 343 has been hiring a lot. They also got the lead combat guy from Horizon ZD...which is interesting and somewhat telling.

I agree with Froz. Hope they do something to improve the animations. ND still embarrasses everyone there. Ninja Theory has an animation studio so hopefully they can build off of that.

When you think of Hellblade as a 'small' game, the animation in it just breath taking. There's something so right about the character animation that's missing from so many other games.

Congrats to him, I'm sure he is looking forward to a new challenge and probably a bigger paycheck :) Most people need a change of scenery at some point otherwise they'll just get burned out and not do their best work.
