Need help deciding on new tv for living room

Never had burn in on the 3 plasmas I've owned I doubt I will on my eventual OLED.

If Money wasn't a issue id buy The R series from Vizio.
Not saying OLED doesn't have a advantage in PQ(but the R is pretty close) but i am still not sold on OLED because of burn in.

I agree with you on the burn in issue, OLED is also still too new for me to trust it enough to put that kind of money into unproven technology. They sure do look nice in the store though that's for sure :) but really for people like us here on this site that play a lot of games I think we'd all be better off waiting a while and letting the tech prove it's self.

Burn in is a non issue just like it was in the final years of plasma, I haven't seen a hint of IR on my OLED much less burn in. OLEDs are the best.

Hell I'm in the market for new TV but the budget is tight. Part of me is thinking of just waiting til Black Friday. My mom gave me hte 50 inch they used in the living room. Great picture and everything just that it has issues when it's not kept on Standard setting. Looking at getting into the 4k game, Black Friday might be the best way to go about it.

Just picked up the 50 inch Vizio P series set. If that HDR10 update doesn't hit I'm going to be pissed. The promise of dual HDR format compatibility was too tempting to pass up, but risky since unconfirmed.

That's cool, I have seen a few reviews mention that they saw IR on their review units but that it disappeared after a few min to a few hours of use. That's still not something I want to deal with personally, no question though OLED's do offer amazing picture quality.

Yeah I'm glad there's no IR on my set. No way I could deal with the motion blur, gray blacks and horrible off axis viewing angles of LCD, I almost went with a Vizio P (because of the impressive blacks) series but my daughters vizio I bought little more than a year prior died, glad I didn't settle and splurged a little.

The life expectancy is supposedly low on OLED as well....much lower than a LCD.
Can't deny the PQ though

Yeah it is, I still need to go look at this and the Vizio P series tv to make up my mind though.
I have had my Vizio p series about three months now. It certainly hasn't disappointed. Everybody that's come to my house always notices how Inc jet the blacks are. Just received the hdr10 update the other day. Talk about an unexpected bonus. Will definitely try that out when I get my HDR Blu-ray player tomorrow, the Xbox s. Lol. Pretty much the same price as a standard HDR 4K Blu-ray player. The next update will enable hdr10 streaming for the set. But streaming dobly vision has been flawless so far. Absolutely loving this set along with the amazing picture quality.

I am hearing(and surprised) the XB S doesn't have dd atmos or dts x support this=a no buy disappointment(especially when PS4 has em) for many enthusiasts like myself so it loses value due to this. If you are serious about hearing movies@there fullest...XB S won't cut it.

Full Array over Edge Lit any day!
I don't care if its a cheap Sanyo

Sanyo? Say NO! lol

My only concern is that the upscaling in vizio sets gets bad marks and I watch a lot of old dvd's and tv shows. It seems like they are pretty much a wash in all other categories from the reviews I've read.

I have never had surround sound equipment . Most of the time have always used just the stock TV speakers and within the last couple years a sound bar . My Hearing is exceptionally sharp and really don't care for very high volume levels . Anything above 20 irritates my better half anyway . Lol

That will be sufficient then :)
