I have a feeling that I may become a serious PC fanboy sooner rather than later.

I'll always love my console games. But for my inner graphics whore, I love what I'm seeing from this thread.

The added resolution is just something you have to see with your own eyes. I played vanilla GTA 4 at 3840 x 2160 and it looked incredible. Put it to 1080P and wondered if my PC has mysteriously been replaced with a Xbox 36o while I wasn't paying attention. I could only imagine if my CPU and GPU were even better.

Soon Master race. Soon.

But it's not just the "graphics whore" angle, it's a whole lot more than that.

What these screen don't show you is all the amazing mods that change the game on a fundamental level. Mods that add survival aspects like living in the wild, using animal skins and wood to build a tent and fire so you don't freeze in the night. Mods that add the ability to freeze, starve or bleed to death. Mods that make inventory a much less tiresome prospect and last but not least are the mods that add hundreds of hours of gameplay, some of it just as good as Bethesda made and some even better. Hell, one guy made a mod so good that he ended up with a job in game development (although not with Bethesda IIRC).

Definitely. I didn't mean to sell mods short.

Yep.
Though I know what Dno69 was getting at.
Graphics can only take you so far. Though the superior eye candy is the initial hook...it is always the gameplay that will stand the test of time.
I think the 'omgzz better grafix!!" is the fundamental misconception about PC gaming. Console only owners usually carry that. It isn't just the graphics it is is the freedom of choice that the platform offers that really sets it apart.
You can choose to play Skyrim with crazy ENB's, modded quests, texture packs, etc or you can choose to play Skyrim unaltered. That general choice is what makes all the difference in the world.

Didn't think you were. Was more of a PSA than a direct reply to you.

edit: @The Living Tribunal, it's a misconception about what mods really are. Before I ever got into PC gaming (1999-2000) when I would play Quake 3 on Dreamcast people would tout PC gaming and my experience was through a friend that spent 2 weeks just trying to get Unreal to run properly. So I thought "big whoop, prettier graphics and mods, who cares I still play the same game they do"

Then I got into PC Gaming when the DC Q3A community died and was absolutely stunned at just how much there was to it. I swear I spent a good week downloading mods like one that turned my rocket launcher into a demons head that shot out flaming skulls and another that turned my machine gun into an M60.

And while I think a good portion of the hate and/or dismissal of PC gaming is due to lack of funds or fear of not being able to assemble/setup a PC, there's a lot of people out there that still think "I'm playing the same game, so what?".

@Dno69, if you want to change your rating due to the edit that's cool.

Well i have some mods installed in skyrim, mostly graphical changes to characters and landscapes and towns so far. not sure what mod i want to try out next, i may start getting the levels and characters that people have created. Will post more screens soon although i know they wont anywhere near as good as the other screenshots in the thread so far.

Yah the Skyrim modder pretty much created an expansion that added around 20 hours of gameplay and he's only 19. He landed a job at Bungie.

I'm hoping Steam has a better deal on Wasteland 2 soon. Seems like my kind of game, so hopefully they can hit a below $40 mark. If not then I'll get it anyway.

The game will be $25 on release. The reason its so pricey now is you get early access, a copy of the first Wasteland and some in game items I think.

Last screenshots are from Divinity original sin

That game looks pretty cool, i might have to look into getting that when it comes out and Wasteland 2 looks really good as well, how do you like both games?

This. I play my games at 2560x1440 on a 32" screen....it's to die for. Now, I cringe at 1080p games....to think it goes even less....lol. I know many console gamers like to convince themselves that resolution doesn't make much of a difference, but it really does.

I very like that sort of games, takes me back to the old days with the first fallout games and the baldur's gate series.
Also the co-op in divinity original sin is great.

Cool, i am going to keep my eye on both of them and probably get them soon, right now they are early access games right?

Yes early access. Full release are 30 June on Divinity Original sin and somewhere in August for Wasteland 2.
