Nintendo Super Thread of General Discussion

Yea I'd love to get into the Fire Emblem series but no real interest to get it on the 3DS. It worked great when I was commuting an hour to work as a passenger but that's no longer the case, so it just sits collecting dust for now.

I think i'll dust off the NES tonight. I love coming back to this console every now and then. Super Mario Bros. 3, some Metroid, and Castlevania is all you need.

Some Nintendo MS history......

http://nintendoeverything.com/microsoft-tried-partnering-with-nintendo-before-creating-the-xbox/

Before Microsoft went on to create the Xbox, the company reached out Nintendo in hopes of potentially working together. Xbox co-creator Ed Fries talked about the behind-the-scenes situation during a recent episode of IGN Unfiltered.

According to Fries, Microsoft visited Nintendo and sat down with late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. Microsoft spoke about what they were looking to do, and asked if there could be a potential partnership. The bottom line: Nintendo said no. There was some talk about one side handling software and networking while the other concentrated on hardware, but nothing ever panned out.

Been very tempted lately to buy a New 3DS XL. Should I do it?!

Really I don't know. I just wanted to post this. I'm waiting for the day Nintendo gets its act together and just puts their handled games in the console store. Hopefully with NX. I played most of my GBA games on the GC, don't really care for handhelds.

I think I'll at least wait for the official NX reveal. Just to see what's happening and if Vals post is right.

There's definitely some great games there to be enjoyed through backlog. But the hardware itself is dated. I still have a 3DS. But every time I boot it up I'm reminded that the hardware just didn't hold up very well over time.

Thread needs more posts. Nintendo is awesome, whether you like it or not. The Switch will do work. I won't make any bold predictions like someone but get your big boy pants on Sony and Microsoft. The champ is coming back!

New Mario looks amazing, Metroid Prime 4, and a new 2D reimagining of Metroid 2 for the 3DS? Yeah I'm a happy Nintendo camper right now.

When do you all think we'll see the first FPS on Switch?

I'm thinking we'll see a Cod port or spinoff. Or maybe some indie developer will make a cool looking FPS.

Prime 4 is kind of a hybrid first/third person.

Yeah Metroid is an adventure game in 1st person, Nintendo systems don't typically get lots of FPSs. Maybe that can change with the popularity of the switch.

Is the first Xenoblade Chronicles worth it? I didn't realize it was released on Wii U virtual console and I have a code from Nintendo for my birthday that would knock the game down to $13. I did play X and enjoyed it and looking forward to the new game, which looks to only be an indirect sequel. Because of that I'm wondering if it would be worth playing the first game or just read a synopsis and wait for the second game.

The first game I found was a little rough around the edges. X was a much more polished complete game. Chronicles had an arguably stronger story but X was more fun to play. Both are time sinks mind you.

I do believe there are threads all over the internet comparing the 2 games but I personally liked X considerably more than the first. But for $13 you've got a good time waster that will hold you until Chronicles 2.

Mantis Burn Racing® Confirms 60FPS and Cross-Play on Nintendo Switch™

OCTOBER 16, 2017 BY VOOFOO LEAVE A COMMENT

VooFoo Studios is delighted to confirm that their acclaimed top-down racing game, Mantis Burn Racing®, will run at 60fps on Nintendo Switch™ – in both TV mode and Handheld mode.

Built using VooFoo Studios’ own propriety game and physics engine, Mantis Burn Racing® is a visually stunning, action-packed top-down racing game that combines real-world ‘fun’ physics with intuitive controls in highly competitive ‘one-more-go’ style races.

“We’ve been spending a lot of time getting to grips with the capabilities of the Switch – we’ve learnt a lot by digging deeper into the hardware” said Mark Williams, Technology Director at VooFoo Studios. “The Switch’s performance analysis tools have allowed us to understand where frame rate improvements could be made and we’re really pleased to have the game running at a consistently smooth 60fps – we were determined to make the Switch version the best it can be.”

VooFoo Studios have also confirmed that 3 and 4 player local split-screen races are locked at 30fps, with 2 player split-screen running at a variable 30-60fps. The game will also support cross-network play between Nintendo Switch™, Xbox One and Steam players.

Mantis Burn Racing® is coming soon to the Nintendo Switch™ eShop. Follow VooFoo Studios on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for updates.

Get with the times Sony

Last month I found me a Wii U system ( came with a sealed copy of MarioKart8 ) for $50 at Goodwill. No Joke. I couldn't pass on it. I also picked up Zelda BoTW and Paper Mario Color Splash from Target (Buy 1 Get 1 free Wii U game promo). So far I'm liking it. I don't understand the hate for it but it's a good system.

My oldest son is now interested in Pokémon. I bought him a pack of cards to play and trade with his friends. Are any of the DS or 3DS games any good?
