Nintendo Wants More Adult Games On Switch, Say Developers

The Wall Street Journal reports that with games like Doom, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon, and Shinobi Rifle: Senran Kagura coming to Switch, developers feel more encouraged to release adult-themed games on the platform.

Inti Creates cheif executive Takuya Aizu said he was surprised by Nintendo's reaction to their pitch to release their adult-themed arcade shooter Gal Gun 2. "I thought it wouldn’t be possible to release such a game for the Switch, but surprisingly, Nintendo gave me positive feedback,” Aizu told The Wall Street Journal. Other developers have also noted Nintendo seems to be less passive when it comes to getting adult-oriented games on the console.

Awesome. They can't afford to turn anyone down anyhow.

Yeah past time they realised this. But if the games don't sell (fifa hasn't) then like before devs will quickly stop trying again.

I brought it....partly to try and support it, if it didn't sell it'll probably be the last iteration :(

On topic, Doom and wolfenstein shows me they're starting to cater for mature audiences which is great!

Nintendo finally realizing that there is infact an audience for mature games on home consoles.

Only took them 2 generations to figure it out.

More like people finally realizing there has always been mature games on Nintendo consoles now that Nintendo is doing well again. Just because Call of Duty and GTA haven't graced the GOAT doesn't mean there aren't any mature games.

They could remake Eternal Darkness and they'd already have a better mature exclusive game than anyone else.

Floodgates are about to be opened and any dev dumb enough to not support the Switch deserves what they get.

COD had several Nintendo releases and sold poorly hence why they gave up bothering. With three size of GTA online now it's probably not possible to being it to switch just like they had to stop supporting the last gen version.

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: Your consoles/handhelds aren't powerful enough

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: Your online infrastructure for many of these popular games is lousy

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: Your latest Switch system has hardly any HDD space and memory cards are pricey and hold hardly anything unless we bite the bullet for higher capacity cards

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: You put zero effort, marketing, or make any first party gritty games to give gamers an image or interest that your systems will have a broad base of games like PCs, MS and Sony

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: We tried making a bunch at Wii U launch, where EA Sports, CoD, Mass Effect etc.... all got released along side 360 and PS3. And hardly anyone bought them on a Ninty system

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: Ok, maybe we will look into it, but at E3 you guys don't even bother having a presentation and most of your conference call stuff is Ninty focused

Ninty: We want more adult games

Devs: MS and Sony try to hype gamers up with custom consoles, bundles, Destiny Collector Edition consoles etc.... You guys do nothing like that

Ninty: We want more adult games

More mature themes you say?

Lol looks like someone is upset with Nintendo’s success.

I think it goes deeper than that. Got my theories that he and others are living vicariously through Xbox due to failures of other gaming companies such as Sega, Atari, or in his case Intellivision and just hoping, just praying, that one day Nintendo and Sony fans feel the same pain they did. Pathetic, really.
