1 Million...not bad

Nice. 1 million for a new IP and a niche Japanese game that supposedly nobody wants is solid. Plus it had supply issues. Could easily have sold more.

About halfway through region 5 now. Decided to switch it up and go with a ninja build for a bit. I only have a few of the Iga jonin gear. Can't seem to forge any though so not sure how to find more. Looked at all the missions so far and don't see a way to get smithing texts for it. Other gear seems to become forge-able after you've picked it up for the first time.

Beat the game last night. Well technically early this morning. Anyways beat all main missions and side missions except two that open up at the end. I already know what they are so I'll get to them eventually as I want to start Horizon now. Really enjoyed the game though to the end.

2nd quest offers new green/elite gear...

I stopped when Zero Dawn came out so I'll be going back to it. Soon enough.

Dragon of the North
DLC Details are released.

Nioh has been one of the surprise successes of 2017 (read our review here), selling over one million copies since its release. And the developers have released story details on the game’s first DLC, Dragon of the North, which is set to come out on May 2.

Here’s an overview of Dragon of the North’s story:

Rumours have emerged from the Oshu region that its ambitious ruler, Masamune Date (the “one-eyed dragon”) is secretly gathering spirit stones. With the Yokai flourishing in Oshu, turmoil and unrest is inevitable…

The Dragon of the North DLC will feature an all new region with its own set of original stages, new Yokai, and a new weapon – the odachi. The DLC will also introduce new armor, ninja skills, magic, and Guardian Spirits. Lastly, the game’s long-awaited and delayed PVP feature will be released alongside Dragon of the North.

The Dragon of the North DLC will be available for $9.99 on the PS Store or free for Nioh season pass owners.

Such a great game :)
Maybe a Scorpio version can happen now as Team Ninja has a history of supporting the strongest consoles...

Isn't it published by Sony? Anyways I have the pass but it will be a while before I get to this.

Just started this after beating Mass Effect. I can tell this is going to be fun.

This game is so damn good. I'm seriously impressed with Sony this year.

Is Nioh more difficult than Bloodborne and Dark Souls? I see it is on sale, I think:

It says Nioh LIVE though. Not sure if that is the same as Nioh. It's $39.59. I would bite at that price if it is not to hard.

I'm not a good person to answer really but I'll give you my feelings. I've only played Demon Souls and Bloodborne out of those games, and never really played them long enough to find them challenging. I think looking back my issue was the threat or fear of difficulty if that makes sense? Like the way you can die in a second and lose all of your progress if you don't make it back to your body. That said, going into Nioh playing the final demo I didn't feel any of this. Yes you can still die instantly and lose your progress but the gameplay overall just feels better to me. It's quicker like Ninja Gaiden but more grounded like Bloodborne.

Anyways I honestly don't think it was that hard overall. I probably died more to regular enemies just becoming complacent than I did against the bosses. In fact, watching someone like Maximilian Dood who loves Dark Souls game, and then watching him die more than I did in Nioh. I think if you go into Nioh not being familiar with Bloodborne or Dark Souls it might actually help. That said I didn't beat the final two side missions which are supposed to be complete f***fests if you are under leveled. Aside from those I beat everything else in the main game and had a blast. Definitely think its worth picking up if you enjoyed Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, etc.

Never played Ninja Gaiden or Onimusha. I have Bloodborne and all of the Dark Souls games, but I have found them to be too challenging for me, and of course there is no easy/medium/hard. So if I struggle with those, I was figuring I would struggle with Nioh.

Pro people, did you prefer the higher frame rate option or the higher resolution option? Picked the game up during the Days of Play sale, planning on trying it this weekend.

Most of the time Higher Res but the last time I played I tried the higher FPS mode.
Game is GREAT but not the best looking regardless and doesn't support HDR.

FWIW, I read the DF article on the game and they were convinced Action mode was the best way to play it.

"As a result, we feel that action mode on the PS4 Pro is the best way to experience Nioh."

I am so close to buying the game, and yet I feel that it still may be too hard for me.

Nice, I read you can't do any co-op unless one of the players has completed the stage you want to play. The article also said this change was made because when the game launched co-op was making things too easy. So the requirement to go through the content at least once was made to keep the difficulty in that the developers intended for players. I never got to try out any co-op in Bloodborne but this a similar game and co-op seems like it could be fun.

I've only played the demo but with the ability for sustained damage with combos I think once you get more practice and with experience you'll be the slayer of demons in no time. Bloodborne seemed impossible to me once upon a time but when I went back to it some time later and stuck with it I was able to get through the toughest bosses and to my surprise I fell in love with the game. Gaming outside of you comfort zone can be of great benefit and open you to new gaming possibilities.

I didn't know there was a demo! Thank you!

I don't think the Nioh demo is still available. I could be wrong but I think it was only available for a limited time leading up to the game's release. I hope its still available for you to play because it does a great job presenting what to expect from the game.

Yea I'm not sure it's still available. Like you mentioned I thought it was only available for a few days.

Short answer, no it's not. It is hard and at the start it might seem extremely difficult but once you get the hang of it you'll start flying through it. It's a great game. I'd highly recommend it.

I'm late to the party, but this game is freaking awesome. Just got to the caves, they're kicking me in the balls at the moment. Combat, graphics, art style, enemies, systems, and setting have all been awesome though. I'm rocking the spear (straight forward thrust at all times, it's like I'm playing Demon Souls again!) and dual swords, newb style.
