No gifs for avatars?

Is there any reason that we cant use gifs in avatars? My avy is fixed and bland, i need movement.....

Want to make the site run as fast as possible. Loading a bunch of animated avatars will slow stuff down.

I beg to differ. I had plenty of very friendly PM's of people who simply came to TXB just to see my Jackie roll.

I used to always have Gumby animated gifs at TXB. They'd be very small amount of animation though.

What if Avatar images were Linked and not actually stored on the Forum itself? Then they could load just like any other Gifs posted as an image?

So if I had an animated Gif I could store it on Photobucket or something and put the link in my profile.

All avatars are stored locally.
