NVIDIA 4090s Exploding Into Flames

Click baity title, or just over embellished 🤔 maybe both…

I’m starting to question my purchase.

I believe alot of what's going on with these is the connector just allows too much power. It's definitely a design flaw. I don't think you should be able to pass 600W over such tiny pins.

The people who run their 4090s at stock power limit have probably never had this happen and probably never will happen. Ive never had it happen. *Knock on wood*

Good to know, I’m not gonna overclock mine once it put it all together.

I am trying to see if it’s possible to run everything without liquid cooling and what the best options are.

You didn't put it together?
What are your parts?
I’m gonna put one together, but only bought a few parts, like the gpu, ram, storage and case 😆 only cos I’m trying not to spend much cos got some other things I’m working on at the moment. So it’s just research atm I think I why overkill with the gpu and skydive stuck to the 4080 😆

No such thing as overkill with PC builds.

Im fact it could get dated soon so id sell or build it soon.

Go with the right AMD not intel.

You really don't need liquid cooling for anything.

lol you got me, haven’t picked one yet, but probably go amd for cpu and asus pro art 790 for mb, but just noticing now it list intel for it
I recommend a X670E if money is right.
I personally went with Asrock as they have been my go to brand.

You will be able to upgrade if need be with that chipset as AMD's newer upcoming CPU's are supported.

I’ll definitely look into it. Atm I fear I should make any major purchases unless needed 😆 I may have bought something earlier in the month that I know when family and some some friends will set upon me their judgmental eyes with “wtf why” and I’ll be like “…cos it’s cool…” then I fear their follow up question as to “how much” 😆

What I bought was is stupid, it cost more than the graphics card alone and um, will take up a good chunk of space either in my room or living room, but gotta figure out how and where to put it 😆 luckily it hasn’t been processed lol won’t ship for a few more months

I may take the leap of faith and build it myself 😆

I got some old asus display, it’s just a 23 at 1080p. But will by either a pen display tablet for my next screen, most likely the huion, if I get my bonus I’ll spring for the 27. Even though I really want the Wacom equivalent cos cross compat for touch with my MacBook

If you cancel...
I got a place that could build one for you and depending where you live... not charge you tax.
Let me know via inbox.

1080p isn't going to cut it for a 4080 or better.
I know some good monitors so let me know if you want to go that route.
